Kikar Magen David is one of my favorite spots as a photographer. While it's a main attraction for tourists, the local feel is still present, and you can see pensioners coming to enjoy the sun sitting at the benches as well as people shopping, tourist groups meeting, and so on. There is always something happening here. Tuesdays and Fridays are the busiest and there are also various street performances during the day.

Former the buildings around the square were almost all in very bad conditions. Nowadays there are a lot renewed wonderful houses. From the square you can go in a lot of directions. It is always very busy.

The square is a perfect starting point for different walking tours - through Carmel market and Kerem haTeimanim (1), to the sea via Allenby Street (2), to Rabin Square via King George V Street (3), through the hip Shenkin compound (4), southbound via another section of Allenby Street (5) and along Nahalat Binyamin pedestrian mall (6). It could look better, but restoration is underway and I hope to see the square in its former glory - the sooner the better.
Worth a close look: Polischuk House (Nahalat Binyamin 1, built in 1934), resembling an ocean liner - Israeli Streamline Moderne at its best.

Really interesting buildings, but desperately in need of restoration.
