This neighbourhood is not touted in any of the Tel Aviv tourist brochures, the way its next door neighbour, Neve Tzedek, is. Few of the 50 to 70-year-old buildings have been renovated, though here, in terms of density, is Tel Aviv's largest concentration of Bauhaus architecture.

After doing everything possible in TLV we tried looking for something new and exotic. We found it by walking around the hood in Florentin. We even found a wonderful Mexican restaurant called Mezcal.

Another crumbing neighborhood and the cusp of being rebuilt, but look beyond the peeling facades and dog pee and you will streets full of great restaurants and bars. Don't mind the blitzed out junkies, they are generally harmless.

Florentine is a very cool area in which you can find nice restaurants, bars and very cool people. If you want to feel the young area of Tel Aviv you should definitely visit this area.

A small version of early Chelsea, Manhattan's now overpriced artsy neighborhood. Florentine is headed in that direction, but it's early on. still lots of old empty factories, alongside chic hotels, restaurants, flea markets and art galleries.

A cacophony, but gentrifying... and still with some ways to go... This was not an area where I felt particularly safe or drawn to returning...
