An area that connects the old and the new city, under development, where new buildings have started to be built. That's the beautiful part. Here you can find Abdali Mall and the King Abdullah I Mosque. But there are a lot of ugly, unmaintained, sad buildings.

One of the oldest Jabal "mountain" in Jordan, I love to walk there specially at night, it is calm somehow, and the old buildings add so much to the atmosphere. dont forget to eat Falafel from Abu Mahjoub.

This area has three streets coming off Paris Square (which is,really a circle ) that have food, cafes, coffee shops etc.few shops and art shops scattered around too. Many things don't open til 1pm so a visit later in day is wise. I enjoyed strolling around the area. For me it was better than Rainbow Street.

Jabal means a mountain, and it's one of the oldest mountains that the city of Amman was built on.
It has nice buildings, lots of cafes and places to eat but what I love about Jabal al Weibdeh is that it has two places for art lovers; Darat al Funun and the Jordan National Gallery for fine arts.

The view of the Citadel from Jabal al Weibdeh for example is beautiful , you can get a nice view of Jabal Amman from Darat al Funun as well.

It's a quite mountain, and you can reach it from down town by "service".

I would recommend Jabal al weibdeh if you like art, or if you are looking for a quite place to eat drink or smoke argileh.

Jabel Al Weibdeh ; an old city of Amman when you can see the old buildings and outlets, Ceramic Musiums, old Churchs and Mosques, enjoy different food including Falafel , Shawermas and others, do not forget to have a water pipe ( ARGELLA) while you are visiting the area, you can start your visit from Place Paris and the French Culture Centre.

Spent three days at the nearby Hawa Guest house - the streets around Paris Circle are a great place to eat out or take in the scene in the evenings and a less crowded and fun alternative to Rainbow Street. We ate good local food at the Rakwet Cafe, had authentic Italian thin crust pizza at Oliva Cafe and even spotted genuine Jordanian hipsters at the Cafe Graffiti - all in Al Baouniyah Street. Local shops included fashion, pottery and an artisan jam maker. Spectacular views across to the Citadel.

Many people (Including myself) used to live in Jabal (mountain) Weibdeh before moving to new areas in Amman.some still do.You can still see old beautiful houses. Some were turned to art galleries Like Jordan National Gallery opposite the old park,Darat Al-Funoun(very nice view of the Citadel) and Dar Al-anda . The Jordanian Artists Association location is there as well as their funtions .Lozmilla Hospital , The French Cultural Center next to Paris Circle and Terrasanta School for boys are some of the famous old places. In the summer Paris circle holds some events. It is worth visiting the place to see an art exhibit or an antique shop or event.

Go for a walk around this area, it is very interesting with some small local restaurants that are very good and well priced, and some cafes with good coffee. The Art Gallery is worth a visit and its neighbouring garden
