- LolaGo1Washington DC, District of Columbia6,632 contributionsFree to enter, Free beverages, water and snacks, Free interesting tourThis was the first attraction I visited in Kuwait City. No entrance fee, was provided coffee, dates, cookies and box drink before the tour. I was asked to wear their beige abaya while inside the mosque and take off my shoes. Our guide speaks perfect english, explained the brief history of the mosque, sources of materials used to built it, prayer process inside this mosque, etc. She also showed the special room reserved exclusively for the use of the King. Highly recommended to visit this mosque!Visited November 2023Travelled soloWritten November 7, 2023
- Lpoko258154 contributionsA beautiful, holy buildingA glorious building! The main room is spectacular in size and beautiful to behold. There was a good explanation about what goes on during a service and what each part of the room was for. I did feel that the tour guide had a bit of a chip on her shoulder as she explained Muslim dress codes. After the tour there was tea, water and juice available as well as some free souvenirs. I definitely recommend visiting!Visited December 2023Travelled soloWritten December 27, 2023
- Jeff KPittsburgh, Pennsylvania2,213 contributionsVery Good TourWe took an English language tour of this mosque. The 30-minute tour was very informative and the guide was excellent. The mosque is also quite impressive. We had our hotel call to confirm the schedule for the tours as the hours vary. Note that you enter the mosque at gate 7. (Our Careem driver dropped us off about 10 minutes from the entrance.) Highly recommended.Visited January 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten January 17, 2024

We spent almost 1 hour admiring the architectural beauty inside the mosque. The guide Bro.Abdul Aziz was friendly n informative. We could see the copy of old Qur'anic manuscript, Asma-ul husna inside the dome and the Islamic arts and calligraphy. Totally an amazing experience

The mosque had to be visited on a guided tour (free of charge). They were available Sunday to Thursday every 30 minutes from 9 AM to 11:30 AM and 4 PM to 6:30 PM. The tour lasted slightly over 30 minutes. We had a great guide taking us through the mosque.

Completed in 1986 this huge mosque in the center of Kuwait is testament to the wealth of the emerging oil state. The prayer hall for men can provide space for 10,000 worshippers, while the adjacent hall for women has room for just under a thousand! Hence there is ample space for cars.
I visited during Ramadan when the complex was closed for foreigners.

The tour guide Suliman Al Souri was so friendly and gave us a beautiful tour of the mosque. We spent a few minutes in a little room with cold water and free educational literature/videos. The architecture, carpets, tile, woodwork was exquisite. It was neat to learn more about the Koran, prayers, and beliefs.

Our tour guide Laila was fantastic! She was extremely knowledgeable, very friendly and her explanation of the different finishes and Arabic calligraphy styles located throughout the mosque was eye opening. The mosque was beautiful and the Moroccan and Iranian tile work was breathtaking. I would recommend this tour to everyone visiting Kuwait.

Hello, I will be in Kuwait City in April 2023. Will the Grand Mosque be open for visitors during the holy month of Ramadan?
If tours are not available, can I still go inside to take a look for a few minutes? Or at least walk around the outside and take some pictures?
Thank you.

Hello, I'd love to visit the Grand Mosque in Kuwait but I am unsure about the days for available tours. Some websites say there are tours available on Saturdays, some say there aren't any tours on both Fridays and Saturdays.
I couldn't find any official website to check which information is true.
Can anyone help me, please? I'm in Kuwait only on Friday and Saturday. Leaving very early again on Sunday.
Best wishes,
Nina
