Nice old fort

The fort is located next to the Sultan's palace. It's worth the while visiting it, when you are in the area. The view over the water is nice as well.

In olden days prisoners of war were kept over here, well maintained and kept up well lit, having a flight of staircase

It is a very nice to walk in. The fort itself is not that impressive but if you are lucky you could meet parrots nesting in its walls.

As my children and I explored Muttrah area by foot, we couldn't miss this fort as it's strategically positioned in the middle of Muttrah overlooking the harbor and area. We were fortunate enough to get into the fort and explore from the head guy who is working on the renovation. It had the best view point and as you looked... More

best time to go is at night.... the lighting is awesome! If you have a good camera, don't use the flash.

Beautiful place to walk around and stunning views across the Fort. It is also known as Al Gharbiya Fort as it commands a view of a high rocky hill at the end of the west wall.

I guess that day was my lucky one cause while I was walking around the fort and taking pictures, we met a local to whom i genuinely smiled and said Hi in arabic. He answered and asked us if we were interested in visiting the fort. I was surprised and unsure but we decided to follow him. No idea howcome,... More

The fort is just next to AL ALAM PALACE and is possibly used as a guard fort for the palace. You are not allowed to enter. Again keep a stock a water and snacks just in case. Can get exhausting is the sun is out.
