Beautiful exhibits in a magical setting
This is a beautifully laid out building with a broad range of exhibits in a stunning setting. If you're interested in the broad range of Islamic art, from pottery to fabrics & jewelry you will find much to entertain you. One surprising omission: after we had left, we decided upon reflection that we wanted to pick up a couple of items from the store and tried to go online to do so. We couldn't find a way to do that. With such a broad & diverse collection, why wouldn't you allow people to buy items online?

    Must visit when in Doha
The museum itself is an architectural marvel: we arrived in the late afternoon and the way the setting sun casts lights on the angular facets of the building makes for a mesmerizing walk toward it. Inside the collection of Islamic art is fascinating and the exhibit on Baghdad that was featured is fascinating. Admission, however, wasn’t free as advertised on this site: it was QR99 per adult.

    Good museum and cafe too.
This is a quite a large museum in a beautiful location overlooking the bay. There are a large variety of exhibits on each floor from various Islamic eras. Worth a visit if you have the time as it does take a while to go around. They also have a prayer room on the ground floor. The cafe on the ground floor has an excellent view and is reasonably priced. although was busy.

Makes you want to come back!
We really liked the atmosphere of the museum and the exhibition, but the wow- effect was gained mainly because of the somewhat futuristic interior of the building itself. Unfortunately, we came a bit late, and had only 1 hour to explore the exhibit, and in the last 15 minutes we were constantly reminded by the staff&guards that the museum is closing. Try to reserve no less than 2 hours! P.S. the gift shop is also quite nice.

    Definitely worth a visit
The MIA in Doha is a must-see, not just for the artefacts on display in its numerous galleries but also for the building's amazing architecture both inside and out. The MIA website states that tickets should be bought in advance, but I was told at the museum you can buy them on the day from the museum's reception. I went just before midday on a weekday and it was not busy at all. The gift shop has a good range of gifts but is a bit pricey.

Great scenery both inside and outside MIA
It has a geometric design resembling a pile of rectangular boxes, also the inside is surrounded by geometric forms up to the ceiling. It has around three floors of galleries dedicated to Islamic Art. Besides that it is located beside the MIA Park and in the edge of the Doha Bay, with great views of Doha West Bay and of Downtown Doha, Souq Waqif and Fanar Islamic Cultural Center.

    First visit after renovation
First visit to the museum since the 2022 renovation and galleries are much better . At time of review excellent temporary exhibition on the history of Damascus. Cafe is still a top Doha location for a coffee with stunning views of the museum’s architecture and across west bay. Entrance still free for Qatar residents. East parking in park next to museum and few minutes walk from Souq Waqif metro. Worth a visit fir the architecture alone.

    Must Visit Museum
Let's start with the secret tip.. if you're a resident of Qatar, you go free; if you're a visitor, you buy a ticket but the ticket is valid for about half a dozen other museums too including National Museum & Sports Museum. The museum houses multiple galleries displaying permanent and temporary exhibits from almost all nooks and corners of Islamic world. Beautiful artefacts including calligraphy, jewellery, weapons and clothing, ceramics and pottery etc. I visited in February 2023, while they had a temporary gallery on Baghdad. The architecture, location and views around the museum are stunning.

Fabulous museum with incredible exhibits. So much to see and take in. Breadth of collection is vast! Well worth a visit and near the national museum.

5 stars.

This was my second visit to the museum, I was very impressed with the history of Islam in the different countries and how religion was based on different cultures around the world. I would highly recommend if anyone is visiting Doha.
Excellent, time well spent but you need quite few hours in order to view the entire museum.

Its a good looking building, nice design. However the information online is misleading.
It's NOT FREE, unless you're a Qatari resident.
As British tourists we were charged 50 Riyals each (£12).
I took a few pictures of the building design from all 5 floors, which took about 15mins then went out to explore the surrounding area and parks.
But note, its NOT free for tourists

On my last day in Doha, I went to this museum after visiting the Qatar National Museum. For me, I prefer this one between the two.

There are more floors of exhibits at this museum. I started on the 5th Floor and ended at the Ground Floor. The beautiful exhibits are on the 2nd and 3rd Floors where items on display include jewelries, tapestries, rugs, Pots, manuscripts, crowns, clothings, etc. Countries represented include Iran, Turkey and Southeast Asian countries where Islam is the major religion.

There are places to sit down and eat here. Outside views from this museum are beautiful: boats and the Persian Gulf. Entrance fee for foreigners is 50 Qatar Rial. Staff are helpful, helped me called a taxi.

The first impression is a lot of space and few exhibits. But they turn out to be of very high quality. I appreciated the organization of the exposition - chronological and geographical - is very convenient. I recommend a terrace with a wonderful view. Great gift shop

Such a fantastic place to learn about Islamic art and culture. The building is impressive, the collection is diverse, and they focus on teaching visitors. Whether you love art, history, or just exploring, this museum is a must-see. It helps you understand the rich heritage of Islamic civilization and shows how art and culture can bring people together.

Excellent place for an in-depth look into start of islam and journey through. Loads of facilities and stunning views from the courtyard.
They don't allow food or drinks to be taken in however.

There are many beautiful artefacts in this museum but the building is the most beautiful of all and worth the visit on its own merit.

The lighting was very dim and at times, the explanatory notes were difficult to read.

Really interesting museum with enough pieces to keep you interested but not overwhelming. Good information provided in English and Arabic, lots of artefacts from around 1st-2nd century until 18th-19th century. The children also found it interesting and lots of items of jewellery, clothing and weapons to look at.
We bought the silver pass which gives you 5 museums in 5 days for 99QR each the kids we’re free otherwise it’s 50QR per adult. Took us about 2 hours to walk round. The building itself is also beautiful
