I am a female Muslim tourist and I came to this mosque with my 7 month old and my mother during evening prayers in July order for us to pray. I was accosted by 4-5 female attendants who told me in no uncertain terms that babies were not allowed into the building as “this is the rules”. It was oppressively hot outside at 39C with a hot wind so I asked if I could sit to the side within the building with my baby so we could be in AC. They told me no, the rules say no babies in the building. I was shocked and appalled that they would not allow a baby to take comfort in the AC and expected us to sit outside in heat that you wouldn’t even let an animal sit in. These women were making more noise than the baby with their protests. We complained to the front desk in the men’s section and thankfully they kindly intervened. When we went back to the women’s section these attendants were incredibly rude and threatened that if the baby made a noise we would have to leave. I am absolutely disgusted that these women are the face of Islam and that in this day and age babies and children are banned from mosques which is the absolute antithesis of the sunnah of the prophet, not least a totally merciless act by these women who would rather let a baby suffer in heat following a rule by the letter rather than spirit.
I urge this mosque to reconsider such a rule if it exists, and to please get these women some training in empathy, customer service and professionalism. They are a poor representation of the mosque and of our Ummah.

Worst Building for prayer. Beautiful building but has nothing to do with Islam! Rude security guards. We went first time for Friday prayers. And security won’t let me in the ladies section with my 2yr old son. Very rude security won’t even let us stand inside while we wait for my husband to finish praying and it was during summer. It was ridiculously hot and they have very heartless rude security who pushes 2yr old when they come near the door! Never have I ever been in a Mosque and treated so bad! Will never enter this building. I will not call this place a mosque. It’s a grand useless building showing off.

Male will not have a problem to get in. But ladies have to wear burka. Shawl is not enough. It wouldn't be a problem but to get a burka you need to leave your passport or ID card for whole visit at a reception desk! Incredible these days! I would suggest a refund amount instead of taking somebody's passport.

A nice mosque which can be visited with a free guide who will explain about Islam and the mosque itself and who will answer any question one might have. Preferably visited outside of times of prayer. It is worthwhile to visit it when in Doha.

The mosque is fabulous. We had a guided tour around and you need that for all the information. It’s a beautiful place. It’s a very strict place to enter. There are lots of checks and women have to be completely covered. Some of the women in our party had to buy dresses to cover up. But it’s a great place to visit.

The largest and grandest Mosque in Qatar. I visited as part of a city tour so I'm not sure how central it is, but it certainly seems close enough to the corniche area, only a few minutes by car.
Unfortunately I was there during prayertime so couldn't go in, but it's worth seeing, even from the outside.

The Mosque itself is stunning from the exterior and from what I could see of the inside. Huge and well looked after. You can also get lovely views of the Doha skyline. The issue I had were the security guards. I went twice. I am Muslim. The website says you can visit. The first time I was told I could not go inside as they were closed during the lunch period. Either come in the morning or after 15:00. The next day I go back after 15:00 to be told it was closed. The security guards were so rude. They then started going on with me and one said he would give me a tour and took me downstairs to get an abaya. I however, did not feel safe going alone with this security guard into a room in the parking area when there was hardly anyone around! I left. You may be lucky and get to go inside. I suggest avoiding prayer times unless you are Muslim and Friday. If you come with a taxi, get them to wait as you will not get WIFI and it is difficult to call one otherwise. I ended up just using my data. It is a pity as they really need to either allow visitors in at set times or not. Their making up the rules as they go.

Definitely impressive from the outside. Not sure why they wouldn't let us in. We were all appropriately dressed and there were no prayers going on at the time. They wouldn't even let me stand in front of the entrance and look in.

A huge masjid with a stunning view of the skyline. The interior of the masjid is beautiful and kept clean. Has a big car park as well. I went there in the afternoon and it wasn't that busy which was good for us. Definitely a must visit when you are in Doha

Can I visit the mosque even I’m not Muslim ? Most especially I’m a woman .
Written June 11, 2018
Hi, yes you can, but there are separate entrance for males and females. If you will visit Grand Mosques, they will give you Abaya themselves, so that you can wear it before entrance. They will not take charge for it, also entrance to the mosque also free of charge. Usually, place where woman are praying is on 2nd floor, so you can visit only that part, but still you can see males part from top. Good luck and enjoy your journey!

Hi guys best thing is to catch an Uber from the main road so as you’re coming out book it and meet them on the road which avoids them having to come into the compound when it’s busy saving you any extra waiting time
Charge - I never experienced any waiting charge on my trip - hope u have a great time in April!
