The Al Maqtaa Fort is a little far off and not accessible easily. Nothing that interesting to see. The time taken to go here is not worth it.

We first saw this unique Fort tower in the early 80's. Each time we return and look we see it, even today. Research your history and you'll find it an interesting bit of fact. We took a small motorboat and went over once (am told you can not do that now). It was delightful to walk around and peek into... More

Always an intriguing and mysterious structure, it sits on an island between Abu Dhabi Island and the mainland. I know of no tours or any other access to it, sadly.

The Maqta fort is an neglected historical structure in the middle of the concrete jungle in Abu Dhabi. It stands a lone sentry as a lonely reminder of days gone past. This attraction needs no special visit, but chances are you will pass it if you use Al Maqta Bridge. Keep your eye's open and you can't miss it.

People interested to see the ancient buildings of this region would like it for its history and its uses back then. A short visit to kill time with family and for photos.

I really like this old and traditional Arab forts and in my Abu Dhabi tour I decided to visit it, but while it was not terrible it looked liked it has been reconstructed and in top of it it was closed. Anyway it is near to the big mosque so it is worth a little detour

This isn't the original structure, but just a replica. Not a must while in the city, but it has it's merits. A few shops, restaurants and hotels nearby make it a worthy trip on the way.

At the Palace Museum we saw a photo of this fort about 75 years ago standing alone. It still is in the bay, but the metropolis that is Abu Dhabi has grown up around it, including this bridge. You are reminded of AD's past each time you drive by.
