When is a museum not a museum?
Mar. 2020
Is a museum a museum if it doesn't have a gift shop? Or a cafeteria? Or if it doesn't accept donations or public/private subsidies?

Well, yes, it's a museum, but a very different one.

There are five Ralli Museums worldwide. Ralli Museum Punta del Este was the first. The Ralli mission is simple: acquaint the public with contemporary Latin American art (while also showing some surrealist and classic art).

The building itself is eye-catching, caught between green grass and crisp blue skies.

The two floors of Latin American art (plus exhibits featuring artists like Marc Chagall and Salvador Dali) are impressive, but it was the sculpture garden that I spent the most time in. So pretty and picturesque, with lots of whimsical artworks.

A Great Experience of a Museum Offering Something Different
Feb. 2020
This museum is a must visit place when in Punta Del Este. It has free entry and is full of bronzes in the gardens through which one can walk. There are also two floors indoors which has a collection of paintings and sculpture by some of Latin America's most talented artists complemented by works by Dali, Chagall and others. Of particular interest are the many caricature paintings of past and current day events. The Ralli Museum is set in a beautiful building itself. This is one of the best museums I have visited offering something totally different from what one would expect.

Excellent museum with rotating exhibitions, small enough to get through in an hour. Spanish and English explanations.

This museum had many beautiful pieces and we all enjoyed viewing. However, it can easily be viewed in 30 minutes.

Fun Museum!
Jan. 2020 • Couples
Museum was so much fun! There are 2 courtyards with sculptures, one of which was a significant Dali collection on the sides. Inside there is a nice selection of South American and some international painters. All modern and most are very fun. Museum is laid out like a colonial hacienda. Not many stairs and very accessible. Doesn’t take long to visit.

This is a relatively small museum. We entered thru a courtyard, 40 of us, part of an excursion from the cruise ship.We were allotted a certain amount of time before we had to return to the bus. My wife and I strolled thru the museum, admiring the works of Salvador Dali and experiencing for the first time, lesser known Latin artist. As our time dwindled, we rushed to get back to the bus. We found ourselves back in the courtyard. This was a different courtyard. The moment we realized we were in the wrong courtyard, we also realized we were in the right place. Simultaneously we looked up at each other. There was no noise and no movement. It was completely still. We were in this courtyard, that felt very much like a garden, in the presence of something divine. I felt an overwhelming sense of peace, in a completely safe space.

GREAT MUSEUM
Dec. 2019
We visited this art museum as part of a longer shore-side excursion from a cruise ship. Although neither of us is in any way an art buff, we did enoy the exhibition of many, many paintings and of a lesser number of statues. The building is nicely designed, airy and well lit, and it was a pleasure to walk around it.

Ralli Museum is a "must see" place to visit in Punta del Este. The collection of modern art is quite eclectic. Do not miss Dali's Surrealist sculptures.
