Kinda neat to see. Lots of condos and luxury buildings. This is obi where the rich go to mingle in Uruguay. Beaches were decent, but we were disappointed in the hand sculpture - a big tourist trap.

Nice place for walking, there is a fish market with fresh food and good prices, if you are Lucky can meet with some of the sea Wolves standing by the fisherman waiting for some food, they are used to people but keep a safe distance.

Wifi and internet are practically inexistent. If the hotel you are staying at doesn't have it, you will only find it at McDonald's or other restaurants. If you rent an apartment that does not have a land line telephone, you CANNOT install the Tourist Internet package offered by Antel, the phone company that has the monopoly on internet in Uruguay.... The harbor is pretty but there isn't much to do there but take a boat or eat at an expensive restaurant. I read that there are sea lions in the harbor but we didn't see any when we there.

Punta de Este is clean, upscale resort town that has been referred to as the Monaco of South America. The port is the hub of activity around the downtown and this is the docking station for tenders from visiting cruise ships. The major sights can be visited on foot in approximately 2 hours. The tourist office at the port provides... More

We drove around the port of Punta del Este and wound up at the confluence of the Rio de la Plata and the Atlantic Ocean. Very nice neighborhoods around there too.

Sea Lions arrive every morning to clean up the scraps from the fishing boats. Some huge specimens stay in the harbor all day and parade for tourists.

I lost my boat to go to Isla de los Lobos and I was very disappointed because I really wanted to see the Southern Hemisphere sea lions (wolves) but there are a few around feeding into the fish that fishermen disposed and they are so incredibly amazing. That experience is worth the trip alone. If you add other attractions as... More
