Some friends took us to Casapueblo and I was quite overwhelmed by this artist. This is just one of his studios/homes, in fact part of the complex is still a private residence of the family. Take the time to watch the video about the life of Carlos Paez Vilaro who created this place. He created an amazing amount of work... More

Located in Punta Ballena. This museum was built by the Uruguayan artist Carlos Paez Vilaro. It is a monument to architecture, with a beautiful museum with paintings and sculptures of Vilaro. There is also a restaurant and a hotel in the same place. The museum is open from 10am to 6pm. Due to its architecture it is not suitable for... More

We loved our visit to the museum. We started with the movie which I highly recommend to give you a background on the artist. We also loved the artwork which I only wish there was more of. Before I started my Uruguay research prior to our trip, I had not heard the true story of Uruguay's rugby team and their... More

Casa Pueblo is by far the best attraction in Punta del Este. Inside you will find lot of Carlos Paez Vilaro paints and stuff. The construction is amazing as well as the location. The audio and the sunsets are really amazing and worth the visit. Casa Pueblo is a must!.

Must see: Carlos Paez Villaró paintings and the story of this house-atelier. Don't miss the 30-minute documentary upstairs, preferebly in the beggining of your visit - you will see his works differently. The downside is that there is a store in every room (unnecessary), and their stuff (pottery, posters) is quite expensive.

Casapueblo is fun to look at - after taking a 10 minute walk through the public area there is not much else to do. Everything is pricy.

We watched the sunset from here, amazing! The museum was interesting as was the building, almost Gaudi like. We got a glass of wine and watched a great suset, to the west and east. Worth a visit.

Don't miss sunset time, it is amazing. During sunset time they play a poem by Carlos Vilaro about sun. There is a coffee bar in the deck so you can have a break to enjoy the view.
