We did the 45mn tour (you can do the 15mn if you‘re short in time). This „valley“, which was the bottom of the ocean, shows you how beautiful is Nature. The 45mn gives you enough time to enjoy and find peace of mind, and doesn‘t...More

Valley of the Moon can easily be done in half a day (even on the longer route) and has some interesting and nice scenery. We went without a guide and don't think you would necessarily need one. You can get a local bus from in...More

The landscape is beautiful and the location very serene. At about 1pm a piper stood on one of the pinaccles and played lovely music for a few minutes. The paths are clearly marked and the 45 minute route took me exactly 45 minutes and was...More

What a wonderful place! I felt like I was on the moon. I was surrounded by sandstone which gave that other worldly feeling. I recommend taking a leisure walk around the Valley of the moon.

We visited the valley because it was part of the chacaltaya tour. It was a special scenery to see , but small and surrounded by city/buildings. Wouldnt recommend if you do not have that much time.

Valley of the Moon is like walking into another planet. The landscape is surreal and alien like. It is a must see to believe it. You can spend an easy hour or two walking around admiring all the different formations. Follow my #30somethinggapyear on Instagram...More

Pros: This place is beautiful, unique and very inexpensive. You can talk a long walk (45 min) or a short walk (15 min) - both are self guided. I loved the little look outs and view points along the way. You might also meet a...More

Oftentimes, this is combined with the Chacaltaya climb. Does not really make any sense, as one is north of the city and the valley south of it. The drive through the city takes a good 2-3 hours. The valley itself is does provide some nice...More

A beautiful landscape with weird shapes of rocks. Definitely a nice day trip you can do on your own.

Very few dogs around- but apart from at the ticket booth, didn't see any officials around - so doubtful they would even notice if one is subtle.

There is really no need for a guide. There are two clearly marked trails of 15 and 45 minutes and the entire walk is in a fenced area so is totally safe. A taki from La Paz should cost you 40 Bs. You will have to catch a... More
