This is a memorial - actually it is a few plaques on a wall - to commemorate where Gaitan was politically assassinated in 1948. To be honest it would be easy to miss unless you knew where it was.

There are just a few plaques on the wall but arguably the most important event in 20th century Colombian history happened here. If you're in the area it's worth taking a minute to stop by and acknowledge this. Gaitan's assassination had repercussions beyond Cuba. Later...More
