This place is truly a gem. It has a large variety of faune and flore into one place. I would say even nature non aficionados would love a walk there as it’s peaceful, it has both sun and shade, you can grab a book and coffee and simply enjoy life’s true wonders. During covid you must however be accompanied with a guide for 1h30. …

Really to be "quite thankful" for was my visit to this site just happening to be in the time of the great outdoor exhibition called Brilla Colombia with these pretty amazing "colorful animal models" (some just about their real-life size but others "quite a bit" larger maybe made just for some visually dramatic purposes but in any case really great models of such animals as jaguars, pumas, gorillas, flamingoes & even a dragon!). And yes, also making it worthwhile visiting this "fairly sizeable" garden are its permanent features (as I imagine it would be in a regular time without any of those animal models): a pond which kind of takes up a significant portion of the garden grounds (with also a fountain in the middle of the pond & a covered bridge in like the Japanese style going over it), a square-shaped rose garden with those in "about 5 or 6 colors" where there's also like a higher promenade along one side (my 2nd rose garden in South America after the one in Parque 3 de Febrero in Buenos Aires, but I would say with "somewhat bigger" roses in this rose garden compared to the ones in that garden), a lovely "picnic lawn" with some small tables & chairs (but each set sufficient for like a family picnic), and also a small waterfall in some quiet wooded area of the garden grounds. And so although a bit out of the way from the city's downtown like the "historic barrio" of La Candelaria, it's just about a 20-minute taxi ride (heading north) to this garden for just about 3 or 4 US dollars, and where for a nice convenience is also a cafe or a small restaurant within the site (although I had my lunch only after taking the taxi back to downtown).…

We visited on a Sunday morning in March on a lovely day and thoroughly enjoyed every minute. It is peaceful and was really pleasant to walk around. Some areas are closed, but for the price (`$2 per person), it was a nice experience. Less than 2 hours would be enough.

As with many places we visit, the botanical Garden is a must. When we arrived , the many parts of the garden were closed. The houses for reconstruction and the rose gardens for spraying. Info and maps reduced to index card sized paper. English speaking tours not available. A bit of a disappointment .…
