Visiting this site right after coming down Mount Monserrate, it was seeing "another panorama" of the city somewhat different from that from the top of Monserrate (although both city views "to the west") especially I would say when it comes to the downtown high-rises (kind of a "stretch view" of them from here as opposed to a "cluster view" from Monserrate), and yes also in a full clear view is Monserrate at just slightly down below not too far away. As for the Virgin Statue (my third statue of the Virgin on a mountain top after the one on top of Cerro San Cristobal in Santiago & the one on top of El Panecillo Hill in Quito, all 3 more or less comparable in size), I would just say it's the base of the Statue which "leaves to desire" being just a small simple structure with the Statue placed on its flat rooftop (compared to the big cylindrical bases of the other two with also some elaborate displays inside) although yes that small structure is part of the larger building which is this santuario with its most memorable feature personally for me being these "red crosses" on the exteriors of the windows (the building itself closed to the public except for the small part on one side like a small church or a chapel where I went in and sat briefly). And also worthwhile while here is to go around to the back of the santuario building for some "mountain views" (to the north & at a relatively close distance). So yes, should not be missed if you're (like me) fascinated by mountain-top statues & city viewpoints (and this likely being the "highest point" of Bogota!), the "major inconvenience" though is its remote location where really pretty much the only way to get to coming on your own is by taxi and for a round trip to take you back down the mountain afterward (which cost me a "somewhat excessive" amount of over 100,000 colombian pesos or about 40 US$ for the ride for about 20 minutes from the bottom of Mount Monserrate then about 45 minutes spent here followed by the ride back for about 15 minutes to barrio La Candelaria), and so actually I wasn't much surprised at this site being a very quiet one with really hardly any visitor (which was in a "total contrast" to what I'd just experienced on top of Monserrate).…
