The Banco de la República Gold Museum houses one of the most important collections of pre-Hispanic metallurgy in the world. As its history, which dates back to 1939, has unfolded, so this institution has become a symbol of Colombia's cultural memory. Its golden exhibition, fully renewed in November, 2008, is a place you cannot miss in your next trip to Bogota.

The museum is very nice and cheap. Nice peaces and the information and guides are very good. The museum is medium size and allows u to take pictures. There is a nice cafe and shops downstairs. Not necessary to plan in advance. Normally no big lines. There are a lot of Sellers outside selling everything and trying to sell u... More

The presentation of the intricate gold pieces is wonderful. One can only marvel at the intricacy of the designs. The signage is not extensive, but it is in English and Spanish. We had a wonderful guide who relayed the legends behind the civilizations who produced the gold work. He was so animated and interesting!

This is a unique museum: showing with beautiful pieces the old history not only from Colombia but also south american countries.

If you only do one thing in Bogota, walk around the gorgeous collection of this museum. The pieces are beautifully kept any the guides are very illustrating. Few other museums in the world offer such a vast gold collection. I really enjoyed my visit and was my absolutely favourite thing to do (and riding my bicycle in the ciclo rutas).... More

The history alone is amazing and the actual artefacts are mind boggling, so much gold and beautiful pieces at that. It's amazing that people could make these beautiful pieces so long ago.

This is a beautiful museum. The pieces are exquisite and really show the craftsmanship and creativity of this civilization. The exhibits are first class with just enough information for one to take it all in.

I enjoyed the shopping but having no tour guide to explain what is being displayed provided no inspirational stories behind the objects.
