Yes actually a bunch of large old palmtrees but it has his charme. We visited the Palmentuin on the day of the indigenous people. A fun day whilst native indians and marroons present them selfs.

The Palmentuin Palmtree garden is a location which used to be the governors garden. With the intense heat in Surinam a stroll there can be comforting to you as well as it was to the governor

It's ok- it's free at least! Really though, I don't think there's much to do here unless you have kids with you.

Place is fairly green with lots of tall indigenous trees and plants, good for taking outdoor photos, or just hanging out.

Not recommend at night at all but during the day it's nice to go for a walk here. The location is close to the city centre

It is a small city park, mostly (old) very tall palms. The lane brings you from one end to the other, is a sand path (in rainy season some places muddy). Very quiet and only crowded during public holidays, when Paramariboans celebrate.

Due to Suriname's large Hindu community the festival of Holi, here also called 'Phagwa', which in India celebrates the beginning of spring, is a national holiday. The center of all activities and festivities on that day in Paramaribo is the Palmentuin (palm garden). It was...More

Very nice place to chill out. High plam trees offers appreciated shelters in hot days of Paramaribo. I heard park might be dangerous at night, but I never checked that..:)
