This was some of the best snorkeling in Palau.

I saw so many different species of fish including the beautiful Mandrin fish, also small purplely blue clams, orange star fish and beautiful corals. The colors were amazing.

Went here as a part of a kayaking excursion. AMAZING snorkeling all around - super shallow, and we got to see tons of fish! We're divers - and had never seen fish this plentiful while snorkeling. This was our first experience snorkeling/diving in Maldives and put the trip off to an awesome start! Definitely recommend it as a part of... More

I went to Mandarin Fish Lake kayaking with my partner. It is an oasis of peace and beauty with excellent snorkelling and birdwatching. We didn't see the mandarin fish unfortunately, yet, the place is worth the visit.

We took a kayak tour through Sam's Tours and requested we visit Mandarin Fish Lake so we could take some pictures of the famous mandarin fish! Immediately upon entering the lake with our masks and snorkels, our guide showed us an area in the shade where the mandarin fish play. They are skittish if you dive down to them, but... More

The marine lake is very clear and extremely shallow, so it's easy for any snorkeler. Usually you only see Mandarinfish at dusk when they come out to mate, but these were out during daylight hours. They are significantly smaller than what you see on the reef (only a few centimeters), but they aren't hard to find once you know what... More

The lake has beautiful and distinct corals, the beautiful Mandarin fish, Upside Down Jellyfish and even Nudibranch! The nocturnal Mandarin fish is out at 11am and if patient, you can photo!!

This is a lagoon where u could see the small mandarin fish. I expend like 1 hr looking for the fish and I finally found it. You can also see some other fishes around. The above water view is also nice.

I did a Kayak Tour with Blue Planet and Mandarin Fish lake was one of the stops. It was really cool. I'm not used to that mandarin fishes are coming out on daytime. It is really cool to take pictures! It is really shallow and if your laying calm on the surface they will show up :)

Ideal to stark with easy diving at the beginning of a liveaboard tour or just make a boat ride with your diving Operator. You must be Patient and behave exactly to what your guide advises you. Then you will have the unique Chance to watch the half-secong Long marriage of a pair of mandaring fish. Fascinating. Best time is the... More

I've been here too many times. In the past there were no people. The lake was fun but difficult. if ANY sand was touched there was NO visibility. The mandarin fish are shy and hard to photograph. The best time is when they are mating at dusk. Too many people have ruined the experience.
