My wife visited this temple on our way from China Town to Sule pagoda. The temple was simple shape, but there had many beautiful statue inside. The Guanyin is one of Chinese saint, and woman. About 10 minutes to see around inside, but it was worth to visit.

First built in 1823 by immigrant Chinese from Guangdong Province and later rebuilt in 1864 after a 1855 fire.

The temple is dedicated to the Boddhisatva Guan-Yin (Kwan-Yin) the female incarnation of the Boddhisatva Avalokiteshvara - the Boddhisatva of Compassion. Avalokiteshvara is one of the few Mahayana Boddhisatvas recognized by Hinayana (Theraweda) Buddhists. Recognized because he/she is mentioned in the canonical scriptures of Hinayana Buddhism. Guan-Yin, the female incarnation, is particularly beloved by Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese and Thai Buddhists.

Very lovely architecture and statues as well as an opportunity to pay respect. 大悲咒

This temple in Chinatown dates from 1868 and is dedicated to Guanyin, Goddess of Mercy. It serves as religious center of the Cantonese community. For this reason the temple is located in the upper part of the Chinese area between street 20 and Lattha on Maha Bandula road.

It is a very lively place. You can observe many believers bringing offerings (oil for the lamps, candles, fruit and flowers) and saying prayers. Remarkable are the many Buddhist Bodhisattvas as if the Cantonese want to underline their close relation to Buddhism.

Free admission and welcoming atmosphere.
