If you stay here, by all means go for the "Superior" room. Some of the rooms have been rennovated, some are awful. We were in one of the awful ones but I moand and groaned and got an upgrade which was much, much better. Staff is great, food was good too. But the place is about 40 years old and someone needs to fix all the little things that require attention. Grounds are beautiful tho, eating outside is very nice.

Went to have a walk here since I was staying opposite. Was peaceful looking. Path not well maintained. One needs to be careful not to get injured. Don't need to spend too long here. Go in the morning when it is more cool

The Inya Lake is some 10 min drive north from downtown Yangon. Like in every big city the traffic is terrible, air very polluted, horns, congestion,...but when you reach here it's all gone.
The lake is very big, it's by the University and very popular with youth. You could see many couples there. Take a walk to rest from the city hustle.

Touring around the Inya Lake in Yangon made one feels that this could not be happening in a 6 millions populated city. There are many restaurants built along the lake, travelers would easily find a feast while going around this area.

We did a short visit to the lake and confess it's not a park where we would linger. The dry season probably contributed, but also like most developing countries there is a lot of plastic lying about and the place was hazy with dust and smoke. The General's luxury pretend barge certainly looks spectacular....

You can go for a stroll on the west side in the evening, but by day it is Pyae Road exhaust and shadeless. There are a couple of fun places to stop for snacks on the southwest corner. The east is side is harder to enjoy, except from the scenic and pricey restaurants of L'opera, Seeds, Inya Lake Hotel. So its difficult to say how to experience Inya Lake. Maybe breakfast from the south side's So Pyay Garden?

We had a long walk going to this lake and thought it would be quite something, but it's not that special. I can imagine that if you're living in Yangon it's a nice chill-out spot, but not really worth visiting.

Inya lake has many faces. Some enjoy walking along its bund. Many are seen.. early sunrise walkers, runners, sunset strollers and couples.
Also Min Lan restaurant, and many fried food shops are seen just across the convocation building. The pusher side facing Sedona hotel has similar walking spaces and shops. No swimming is allowed in the lake, but we used to swim a long time ago.
