Worth a visit if you have the time

If you are looking to learn about Aung San Suu Kyi this is worth the visit. Information about he and his family is written on signs in the rooms of his house.

This was part of an arranged day out. Expecting to be shown round the house and grounds we were startled to find that we were only able to stand on the pavement and stare at the large gate protecting the house!

You can take a quick preview from outside of the house of Aung San Suu Kyi's house. Under the military regime, this is the very house where the democratic leader of Myanmar stayed during her house arrest. There is a portrait of General Aung San displayed majestically in front of the house.

We were driven past in our bus and it seemed clear that we would not be able to stop let alone get out for photos. Perhaps others have been luckier on quieter days. Anyway we can claim to have seen the gate at which The Lady stood so many times over the years she was there under house arrest. it... More

We were asked if we would like to see Aung San Suu Kyi house and we told our guide yes - well all you can do is drive by on a busy street but since you are in Burma it should be done.

I was hoping to be able to see her residence but is not in view. Not worth going to in my opinion since there is nothing to really see.

tHE GATE IS LOCKED AND THROUGH THE CRACKS YOU CAN SEE LITTLE. Also unless you are driving a car it is out of the way. Nothing to see but maybe one day they will open the gate???

There is 1 police post in front of the gate. You are not allowed to get in. Just come and see the gate, and the NLD flag hanging there.
