    Crooked Clock Tower
We stopped by when we spotted the crooked clock tower. Designed such that it looks to be built of blocks piled higgledy piggledy, this architectural oddity was hard to miss. Unfortunately, we did miss out on viewing a performance here! We will have to return to rectify this tragedy, should we find ourselves in Tbilisi again!

    Unique and charming
While not the most historic of features in the city it’s a must see with plenty of detail to admire. The area is clean and it’s nice for there to be some seating available if you’re waiting for the show. Be sure to read up on the background and you’ll appreciate the detail more and it’s a memorable highlight of my visit to the city.

A must visit Gem in Tblisi
During my recent trip to Tbilisi, the Clock Tower was one of the highlights. This quirky and charming structure stands out with its unique design and vibrant colours. The clock tower is not just a visual treat but also offers a delightful experience when the clock strikes the hour. Watching the little angel come out to strike the bell was enchanting and added a magical touch to my visit. The surrounding area is equally captivating, with cozy cafés and quaint shops that invite you to explore and relax. We spent a lovely evening sipping coffee, wine and people-watching, soaking in the lively atmosphere. The nearby puppet theatre adds to the cultural richness of the location, making it a perfect spot for both adults and children. Overall, the Tbilisi Clock Tower is a must-visit for anyone traveling to the city. Its whimsical charm and the vibrant neighbourhood make it a memorable stop on your Tbilisi adventure.

    FANTASTIC
Absolute surreal experience on Alfred and Violetta show. The elegance, the humour, the irony and above all love story. It’s one of the most incredible theatre experiences I ever had. And the old Soviet style heater on the photo is one of the participants of the show and the only thing you allow to make photo of ))

Thos quirky clock building is a Tbilisi icon and, if you’re lucky, you’ll get to see the wooden angel pop out and ring the bell on the hour. Apparently there’s an extra special one at 7pm each night but we always missed it.

If you get the chance, go to one of the marionette shows inside. They’re on every night at 8pm but you have to book in advance as it is VERY popular. We saw Stalingrad and it was excellent! Definitely not aimed at war buffs or history fans, as it was more of a whimsical collection of vignettes with not too much of a connected story. The puppets were gorgeous and skill of the puppeteers was outstanding. We loved the whole show, but could see others looking puzzled.

Mr. Rezo Gabriadze is a well-known film and theater director at Tbilisi's artistic scene! Due to his personal effort, you will find, at the heart of Tbilisi's Old Town, a fairytale clock tower! Every hour, an angel comes out and strikes the bell with a small hammer. The crooked tower is decorated with tiles painted by Mr. Gabriadze himself! No wonder, at every hour a small crowd gathers around the tower. Inside the building, a puppet show! Book your tickets and enjoy the "Rezo Gabriadze Marionette Theater"! Enjoy!

I def recommend watching at least one performance at this charming and unique theatre. I went to a performance of Marshal de Fantie's Diamond. I did not find the script to be particularly well written or intriguing; it was light entertainment, but the sets are well done and quite lovely, the voices of the characters were superb and "fit" the characters, and overall, it's very well done. It was a bit distracting at first to have the marionette characters in different sizes (some are much smaller than others), but I got used to it. If you are an English speaker and need the subtitles, DO NOT SIT IN THE FRONT ROWS. The subtitles are above the action and you will not be able to watch what is happening on stage and follow the subtitles at the same time. Choose a seat further back. It's a small theatre so you will see be able to see well.

This is actually a puppet theater building. This clock tower is not an old tower as it seems, but a tower built in new times. But its architecture is fun and eye-catching. Especially the metal beam that supports the tower from the side makes the tower even more striking. The street where the tower is located is also a real art street with nice cafes etc. there is. A puppet show is held every hour in the clock tower, but although we waited for the hour, we did not see a show, perhaps it did not happen to us. But since it is one of the symbols of Tbilisi, I recommend you to spend time in this clock tower and especially in the street where it is located.

Rezo Gabriadze was born in 1936 and is a theatre and film director, writer, painter and sculptor. He founded the theatre in 1981. The clock tower was added in 2011. On the hour, a window opens and a mannequin of an angel strikes the bell. Below the clock, a screen opens and shows the circle of life - boy meets girl, marriage, childbirth and funeral. So different!

I had a delightful experience at Gabriadze Theater in Tbilisi. As if the clock tower was not cute enough, I was tickled and amazed to watch the entertaining puppet/ Marionette show "The Autumn of My Springtime” whose hero (Boris) is a drunk womanizer and a foul mouthed bird! While light hearted and ironic, the play is actually a treatise on the postwar years in a deserted and impoverished Kutaisi. The mastery over the puppetry was something to gawk at. An unmissable opportunity in Tbilisi.

Shows are pricey but totally worth it.

Touched. Really touched. I didn’t expect it myself... I liked the play “Alfred and Violetta” more, and my wife liked “Ramona”. After 10 minutes you forget that there are dolls in front of you, and time flies by instantly. After the performance, you don’t want to return to the hotel. It’s better to wander around where there is no loud music or sit in a quiet restaurant and drink good wine. True, the next day you go to the theater again and ask for tickets to other performances, and then wait for that day and what you see. If you have to visit Tbilisi again, then first to this theater and tickets for all the performances (even those that you have already seen), and then everything else.

It is a very different work, where you can find something different in every detail of what seems like a complicated structure. There is an iron plank next to it for support. It's as if this plank is saving the tower from collapsing. It was built as an addition to the Rezo Gabriadze Puppet Theatre. Although it looks old, the tower was built in 2010. There was a show telling about the human life cycle at the top of the hour, but unfortunately we couldn't see it. The surrounding streets are full of works of art, cafes and restaurants. If I come to this city again, I will definitely come again.
