The area
Neighbourhood: Jung-gu
Jung-gu serves as a historical and cultural epicenter in the heart of Seoul. A dynamic blend of old and new, the neighborhood houses a treasure trove of ancient palaces such as Deoksugung and Gyeongbokgung alongside modern marvels like Seoul Tower and Lotte World Mall. A plethora of dining options, from traditional Korean BBQ spots to trendy fusion cafes, offer a culinary journey. Namsan Park, with its panoramic city views, is a must-visit for nature enthusiasts. Thanks to its central location, Jung-gu is well-connected by Seoul's extensive subway network, making it an ideal base for exploring the city. This neighborhood truly encapsulates the spirit and diversity of Seoul.

You can get to Namsan Mountain on foot or by public bus, by gondola or by sightseeing bus. I arrived by public bus and this worked without any problems. The view is phenomenal. Both during the day and at night, the view of the city is worthwhile. I made the descent on foot. The road is pulling, but it's doable. However, I would only recommend the climb if you are relatively fit, as it is permanently uphill and with the sometimes high humidity the path can become very long ;). Definitely a must in Seoul.

A must do if you’re in Seoul but you have to walk it!! It only takes 45 minutes (one way) and it’s not too steep. As you get higher and higher, you’ll be stunned with amazing views of the city and beautiful autumn trees. Head for the cable car entrance and turn right, there’s a big brick wall called the Seoul city limit which you can follow all the way up to the top of the mountain and to the tower. A really nice way to spend a couple of hours as the afternoon turns into the evening

Fantastic views of Seoul! Really worth the trip. There are many eateries there too. There are alao bean bags outside Cinabon where you can get a drink and lounge while enjoying a great view of the southern part of Seoul.

Also a great opportunity to learn more about the history of Seoul's city walls and there is a cultural performance around 3pm.

This is a lovely place to walk around and take in spectacular panoramic views of Seoul.

There are cherry blossom and multiple other trees in abundance.

At the top of the park is NorthSeoul Tower, offering an even higher view point over the city.

A glorious park with Namsan Tower at the top, which can be visited separately or at the end of the many trails.

The foliage in this park was stunning. Fall leaves of all colors, crisp air in the morning (a little more heated in the sunny afternoon) made for a beautiful hike. It’s a trail with some vertical- so not a cakewalk but short enough to the top (about a mile) so worth the effort.

Lovely park and a great view of the city. We took the bus I believe it was 1A after we rode the subway and it dropped us off at the view point and the views were great. I don't think it's necessary to pay to go up to the tower. There are really nice views from the park. From the viewpoint, you walk an inclined path to the main park area where there are even more views with restaurants and shops. We spent an hour max and rode the bus back down. Quite a relaxing day if you're not rushing f to go elsewhere. It was the last day of our trip after 5 days so it was a nice cap to our vacation.

I was not sure how good of a view there would be of the city but it's for sure worth your time going up. Take the cable car up, I dont think the views can get any better. If you are in Seoul it's a must. I didnt go up into Seoul Tower, I figured the views in the park would be better and save some money also.

Party with a View
Better than Busan X the SKY (LCT Tower), Kpop was pumping at the top of Namsan. It’s exhilarating with others at any time of day, even after sundown or 7 pm when the tower is closed. We walked up the sidewalk on one side along a padded track, and descended the historical route past the original Seoul City Wall—destroyed by the Japanese (1910) but once greater than the Great Wall of China. The head of trail is across Sowol-ro from Millennium Hilton hotel behind Seven Luck Casino for the base of the mountain—above Hoehyeon line 4 subway station elevator around exit 7. Namsan “South Mountain” preserves a portion of the ancient city wall (500+ years old) and the last bastion where Korean resistance fighters defended the city against modern Japan. It’s a 15 minute walk along Seollo trekking overpass /elevator at the bottom street, up past Millennium /smiling emoji Buddhist building from Namdaemun market. The flashy K Gallery of lights and YooHoo /Pokémon Games plaza (2F underground) is a draw for kids, while adults like the nicer restaurant dining above the 4th floor in the observatory. (A couples’ pass or gift shop—open later until past 9 pm—greeted tired trekkers.) Otherwise, taking the subway and walking from MyeongDong, it’s more than a 3 km hike uphill; half of the climb will be stairs to the top from the concrete overpass. Lovers’ locks in the thousands add ‘weight’ to the vista-experience. We didn’t see any locks dated before 2019. Wear good walking shoes, and late at night, don’t expect much to be open except vending machines with drinks for sale—bring cash (KRW) and a good camera. The gondola keeps running and costs close to $60, depositing riders above the Lotte shopping district of MyeongDong.

Great place for a good solid walk or a trail run. Heaps of climbing and lots of steps so be warned. The park sits between the city and the Namsan Tower and a walk to the tower through the park is perfect. Some fantastic views of the city and surrounds as you ascend and sunsets look great. You also walk next to parts of the Seoul City wall and good historic interpretation signage along the way. The vegetation is green and cool and lots of water features along the way. During the couple of weeks I was in Seoul I visited here a few times.

This is a must see place if you are in Seoul.
The "N Seoul Tower" (Namsan Tower) is huge and very unique. Tower is located on top of Mt. Namsan. It offers some hiking, picnic areas and views of downtown Seoul's skyline. The park has no entry but the tower has an entry fee. There are restaurants and cafe up there and also instant photo taking machines.
This place sems to be very favorite among couples (Love-birds) looking at the hundreds and thousands locks placed in the railing of the walking path.
