We busted the Saqqara Museum and pyramid as well as nearby pyramids. The antiquities in the museum were breathtaking. It's amazing to see the craftsmanship of object thousands of years B.C. We have a new appreciation for the Egyptian scholar Imhotep. The pyramids are huge and we're amazing feats of engineering for their time.

It's nice to get to see this kind of pyramid, and all the burial complex is kind of amazing. SInce they're outside the regular turistic route you'll be able to have a more relaxing visit!

I guess everyone passing through Cairo goes to see the pyramids at Giza, they are one of the World's greatest monuments, after all. But I would recommend making time to see the "other " pyramids, located just south of Cairo. The older sites at Saqqara and Dashur are fascinating in their own right and offer a lot of insight into... More

Well worth a day trip, even though Saqqara pyramid is being renovated at the moment, the nearby small pyramid is open and has some interesting wall reliefs. My husband loved the most the Serapeum tomb of Apis sacred bulls, which looked like catacombs for giants with 24 sarcofagus each weighs around 65 tons. We saw some other tombs but they... More

This place can be visited if you can spent more time than a long weekend. Impressive Pyramid but after Gizeh a bit disappointed as it is not so well in tact as in Gizeh.

This pyramid is much older than Keops. The carved walls inside the tomb are fascinating and detailed with so many animals, fish and birds, as well as scenes of everyday life.

Saqqara Pyramids are a must visit for two things, one the Step Pyramids, it being the first pyramids ever build & probably the oldest stone structure in the world. Also its rich with lots of burial tombs having hieroglyphics and wall carving showing daily life from 4000 years back. A visit will be under 2 hrs and can easily be... More

Amazing place to discover the beauty of ancient pyramid of Sakkara and Zoser story. It is recommended to do the tour early morning to avoid sun if you will do the visit in Summer.

These are kind of out of the way but worth the trip if you can make it. The planning and cost is a bit much but it is Egypt and how often do you get there.
