As of July 2016, the museum is still closed for renovations. The guard advised that it will be closed for two years, though it's not clear when the clock started in that.

This place is just behind the Cairo Marriott hotel in Zamalek & though it was closed for 6 months (who knows why ?) the gardens were open & there are some lovely Egyptian sculptures & figurines in the garden which are worth a look at...More
It is a waste of money, the metro tickets. And then you thinking that it will be open you shouldn't
go. But you could go there to see the hanging church. I didn't like it at all me and my brother were like " ahhhh".
The website showed it as open, but when I went by there yesterday, the guard said it had been closed for a month. The building look beautify from the outside, spit is disappointing that it is not open.
