Arts and crafts without the hassles of a busy souk and a lovely restaurant for a well priced relaxing lunch. Calm and has plenty of quality goods in proper shops.

Went here with our guide and had some fun bargaining for spices and trinkets. Always a fun stop at a Souk

I visited the souq together with my family in January 2018. We were all very pleased with the experience. It's a cosy and clean place were you'll find really nice, hand made Egyptian products from different parts of Egypt. You'll find fixed prices on the items, meaning that you don't have to spend time bargain or feeling fooled. You'll find everything from beautiful beduin work on pillowcases and clothing, wood work, paintings, ceramic products and traditional, colorful metal cups, bowls, trays etc. I think the souq is well worth a visit! It's great to combine a visit to the souq together with a trip to old Cairo (coptic Cairo) and the hanging church which are just next to the souq.

This souk is in a building just north of the Coptic city not far from Mar Girgis metro station. At first I thought it was mainly for tourists, but when I went around I observed many (middle class) Egyptian women who were shopping. There are many different (unique) shops selling homemade and imported handicrafts, but also women's clothes and other goods. Pleasant atmosphere.

There were a few shops selling crafts when I went there, but most of the shops were empty. Perhaps business picks up - at weekends or busier seasons?

Plenty of vendors sell Chinese knock offs, couple small restaurants and tons of tourist. Right inside Coptic Cairo you'll go through it to see any of the churches. All stalls selling the same junk.

The souq is located near Masjid Amr Ibn el As. I discovered it by chance when I was looking for a taxi outside the masjid. The souq is not that big and doesn't have much variety. It has some art and handicraft shops and some local clothes. You can have a look at the architecture of the building but there isn't much of shopping there.
