This large island off the left bank of the Nile contains a very large park. In this very green environment there is a permanently-docked boat with an excellent restaurant. We had a delicious lunch there with our Memphis Tours guides.

This is the place to come if you want (relatively) easy and hassle-free access to city life in Cairo. Just know that this also means that most things cost double what they do elsewhere in the city, although it's still often cheap by western standards. Eat in a restaurant along the Nile, buy gifts and clothes in modern stores that... More

Zamalek keeps changing but it is still a lovely island surrounded by the Nile with a lot of character. Wealthy people still live there and a lot of embassies pepper the island. The Marriott gardens are still a meeting point for the wealthy and well worth a visit, both to view the old palace and for the atmosphere in the... More

This is a popular neighbourhood with locals, where you can find several restaurants, and nightlife areas to enjoy, but not a touristic area.

Zamalek is considered the best area of all Cairo, located in a island between the two banks of Nile. Nice restaurants, cafés and shops are here, as well as most of the Embassies. Don't think that it is Beverly Hills because it is not, definitively. Traffic is chaotic, noisy and durty, but, despite of all, nice.

I was staying at a hotel on Zamalek, so I explored the Cairo tower,, Opera House, some sports complexes and a really lovely area of shops and embassies.
