Sad animals.

Maybe if people stop going they'll close it down. I'm sure they're doing the best they can with limited funding, but visitors from western countries will see right away that the... read more

We happened to go to the Cairo Zoo on a national holiday. It appears that taking your family to the zoo is the thing to do in Cairo on a holiday. This place was packed. The zoo has many open areas and lots of shade trees. Every bit of shade had blankets spread out while families enjoyed picnics. The winding... More

Maybe if people stop going they'll close it down. I'm sure they're doing the best they can with limited funding, but visitors from western countries will see right away that the living conditions of these animals is very poor. There is no stimulative activities for them, and honestly walking through there just makes you sad. Not a good experience for... More

The keepers do a great job although their limited financial capabilities, cleaned good but the staff can't cope up with the massive crowd in holidays and feasts.

We had a fantastic time made better by knowing someone important. As such, we were permitted to enter the enclosures with Zoo Keepers and were allowed to handle and photograph Tigers, Aligators and Pythons close-up.

Would not recommend this. The enclosures are too small and animals re not treated with respect. Not a pleasant experience.

A lot of the animals were heavily drugged. I felt so bad for them. At one point, my aunt and I were sitting and resting when a baby bird fell out of a nest behind us. It was obvious it was going to die so we looked for someone to help it. There was no one around and the animal... More

I'm glad we went to Giza Zoo, it was really nice and the kids loved seeing a great selection of animals. We actually found it to be quite clean (by Egypt standards) and the animals seemed quite happy. There isn't a lot for kids to do in Cairo so I think it's worth the visit. I just wished we had...
