Yes it's dirty, which is very disappointing, and don't let the vendors strong arm you, but still it's the pyramids and the sphinx. It's one of the reasons we all come to Egypt. Hopefully the government will stop the creeping urbanization of the area and...More

The Giza plateau is made up of limestone and dolomite on which stands the Giza necropolis. This plateau is fortunate to have some of the world's greatest wonders , like the 3 great pyramids and the Sphinx. We are lucky that despite the plunder over...More

I experienced the Gizah Pyramid Complex via a private tour booked through Viator.com. If you book a tour to the Plateau, be sure to go over the itinerary with your operator beforehand, so there are no surprises. For example, I wanted to ride a camel...More

This is definitely the next step after Saqqara in understanding the incredible history of Egypt. Don't get caught up with the vendors and be careful who you give your camera to for pictures.

Off all of the major sites I have visited the Pyramids rank as my most disappointing. Cairo or Giza creeps closer and then there is the rubbish tip. Hopefully it will get cleaned up as part of the new museum complex. The Sphinx by comparison...More

Cairo itself is pretty interesting, but I think the Giza Plateau with the pyramids is the classic Egypt that I will remember. The pyramids are huge! over 400 feet high. The sides are over 200 meters the two largest. Of the original 7 wonders of...More

One of the seven wonders of the world. We were curious. It was really amazing what we have seen. Pyramids are at easy reach from Cairo. They are at the beginning of the desert. Really they are 8 or so but three of them are...More
