Outstanding skilled performance of stunts, dance and acrobatics by men, women and children in colourful costumes. Visually thrilling. The theatre itself was a bit run down and unkempt looking. We had reserved seats, but were told to "sit anywhere". We selected seats near the back and had a great overview. Strict instructions were given about no photography or videoing .. but still people chose to ignore this. However, the show itself was amazing and the acrobatics astounding. Highly recommended for an evening's entertainment.

The show was a bit underwhelming if you've ever seen a Cirque du Soleil show in the US. However, if you've never seen anything like this, then it would likely be very entertaining. Tickets are cheaper at the box office, despite the website saying the online price is the best. We opted for 200 yuan seats in the back rows and we had a great view. Do not waste money on VIP seats. Overall, it was a nice change from sightseeing in China, and a decent way to pass an hour.

The show had one great act after another of acrobatic feats performed by a large cast of talented men and women. The staging and lighting was colorful and delightful. Our VIP seats could not have been better right in the center five rows from the stage.

Excellent performance from the team!

I went there on a weekday afternoon first show at 4pm and the theatre is not that full (except for the tour groups occupying the two side of the theatre and some tourists in the VIP seats in the middle section. Some Chinese people tried to “upgrade themselves” during the performance but there is an usher checking and asking them to move back to their original seats.

The shows were awesome. Be it the girls balancing on the bicycle, the couple swinging/ dancing on the aerial rope, the men balancing on the wheels and the motorcycle performance etc (pardon my descriptions); one simply heave a sign of relief after they safely complete their show. We simply have to applaud them for their perservance, courage and tenacity to complete each act and the hours of training to do this.
I love circus and acrobats and this one is recommended. Cheapest ticket is 200 rmb (less than $20) and next to a metro station

We saw the Tang Dynasty Show-truly amazing and the waterfall production is out of this world. All seats have a view of the stage and it is the best show I have ever seen.

Awesome show overall. You will see acts here that you have a hard time even believing. The audience (mostly Chinese nationals) however were amazingly rude. Switching to better seats as soon as the lights went down. Nearly everyone of them was filming the entire show (with HUGE signs that says no filming) and talking loudly through the whole show. Still worth going, just be prepared to be super annoyed.

Pay for the VIP Tickets, you'll thank me later. Sitting third row center, I could see the effort, the sweat, and even the trepidation of the young performers. You can almost hear their hearts racing as they deftly perform feats that, honestly I didn't think the human body could do in several cases. No nets, no precautions, just pure talent and effort. If you see this show and are not blown away, you're so jaded I doubt anything could entertain you. Their performances actually made me feel the emotional stress they were undergoing while putting their young bodies on the line. I felt for them when they failed and cheered for them when they succeeded. It'll be the best $40 or so you spend in Beijing.

I went to the 4pm showing to great out of the 38 degree heat for a little while, and I'm very glad I did. Amazing, talented performances made for a very enjoyable hour or so. I got the cheapest ticket, and still had a very good view.

Chaoyang Theater is a a great activity to do with the whole family. The feats of acrobatic skill by such young performers are outstanding. At times, I held my breath watching and was thrilled with their bravery and obvious training.

If you have members of your group who are sound sensitive, earplugs would be recommended...the music is extremely loud. For those with anxiety around germs, the theater is pretty dated and tired. It did not feel grimy, but it also did not feel clean.

I highly recommend this activity. Just be sure to give yourself plenty of time to get there (over an hour if staying outside of the Chaoyang area) because showtimes happen around rush hour. We were stuck in traffic for over an hour the first night and arrived 30min late. The box office graciously moved our tickets to the following night so that we could see the whole show.
