Qianmen Street has been recently rebuilt/restored and is very pleasant when walking from the south. However, the real attraction was the older streets on the west side which have lots of restaurants and stores with a huge amount of activity. Well worth a wander around.

It is a main pedestrian street with little streets with loads of cheap chinese shops just off it. Nice vibe. The little streets around it are like a market.

OK, on the one hand this is just a pedestrianised shopping area but, on the other, it is a lovely, well-preserved historic street. We loved it and, staying just around the corner, enjoyed wandering here with the locals in the evenings. It's a bit touristy,...More

Qianmen Street is a 2km long street located just south of Tiananmen Square. It has been meticulously restored to reflect Qianmen's 600-year traditional shopping history and architecture. There are small shops with everything you can imagine. I was fascinated with the giant paint brushes. Many...More
