If you're looking for a Chinese cooking class in Beijing, LOOK NO FURTHER. I live in Beijing and have tried other schools (the Hutong and Black Sesame Kitchen). While those places are lovely, NOTHING beats Beijing Cooking School on authenticity. The food at the other places always felt like an "off" version of classic dishes. The food I learned to... More

9 course meal and each dish was more delicious than the previous. The atmosphere was great and the chef was great. Highly recommend but make sure you plan for this type of eating marathon. Great for large and small groups.

We did the dumplings class today and had a fantastic time. Chef Chao is an excellent teacher and very happy and friendly. The dumplings were amazing and I will be re doing this class in a few weeks when my daughter comes to visit. I highly recommend this class. We also did the market tour before hand.

Chao is one of the best instructors I have met. He shows beginners how to cut with a Chinse clever, and he offers information for more advanced students. This is easily the best 1/2 day cooking class I have attended (of ca. 6 in Asia) and I appreciated Chaos patienece and explanations in the market. We will certainly stop by... More

I've taken many Chinese cooking classes at Beijing Cooking School with friends visiting Beijing over the past 4 years. Chao is a wonderful teacher and so fun to visit with! The class menus feature a balance of different dishes and techniques, and you will enjoy a tasty lunch that you have prepared. The school is in an amazing courtyard house... More

This was fun. We did a morning cooking class. You arriving via a small side street in central Beijing, and then enter through a small traditional red door into a very old and traditional property (that has seen better days but is very much Beijing) into a nicely presented professional kitchen. We were greeted by Chef Chao who is down... More

I'm having a hard time reviewing this, as I booked and paid for a a specific class, confirmed several days before, and when I arrived it was something totally different. So if you can accept some ambiguity, go for it. The class I did attend was well done. We made three Cantonese dishes and observed chef make a 4th. The... More

We always take a cooking class when on holiday, and this one was amazing. We started with the market tour which was very interesting and then moved into making several very tasty dishes. The chef was great, easy to follow and fun! The kitchen was very clean and the ingredients were very fresh. We enjoyed ourselves a lot!

My wife and I took a cooking class with Chef Chao while visiting Beijing. He started out with a tour of the market and shopping for fresh ingredients for the day. He provided a great introduction to Schezhuan cooking and we made some great food. He is a very good teacher with a very nice cooking school.

I've been to Beijing several times so wanted to try something new. Set in a hutong, Beijing Cooking School was a great way to learn about authentic Chinese cuisine. Enjoyed the market visit. Chef showed us unique ingredients that I have never seen before. He also explained in details the ingredients and cooking techniques in the class. Chef also discussed... More
