It is the main building in the Palace of Tranquility and Longevity 宁寿宫. It witnessed many defining moments in history. Emperor Qianlong held 1000 Elders Banquet twice for elders over 60 in this hall. Empress Dowager Cixi celebrated her 60th birthday ceremony in this hall in 1894. Now it is converted into the Treasure Gallery, exhibiting palace items and accessories of emperors and empresses.

The least impressive of all the halls within the forbidden city. There are some 8700 odd rooms within the city. Many of the imperial rooms are in this area. Stone carved fencing leads you to this square.

This hall was also known as Hall of Ultimate Principle or Hall of Supreme Being. The hall served as a residence for one of many Imperial concubines. The concubine of the last Emperor, Pu Yi, was also housed here.

This Hall was fine but it was, at least to me, less impressive than most of the other buildings, gates, halls, etc. in the Forbidden City. Check it out but I wouldn't go out of my way to visit.

The bridge of the stone carving is very impressive and beautiful. Keep in mind! You are not allowed to walk on the carving. The color of the pillars of the walls contrasts well with the stone bridge. It's very picturesque. Worth visiting.

There are 2 interesting bronze lion statures and a stone carving in front of the building.Other wise the building itself is like the others.

I came here twice this year the first time I came I was lucky enough to come when they weren't refixing the place.
2nd time I brought my friend they were refixing the whole building.
Summary-
I think they want to prepare for the heavy tourist season so they refix the place up during May.
