It is a hutong, there are plenty of public toilets ( as people living in hutongs do not have toilets in their homes). This area has been done up for the tourist, there are bars with live music( some pretty old style) plenty of shops...More

Real beijing feel but nothing social from one hutong to the next it's over crowded on the weekends shops shouting to lure in suckers to buy what they are selling at 5 times the cost

You can find nice bars here, some have live singing band. We had nice evening drinking beer and listening to local music, . Although, it was more expensive then other places

We were living in the area and only found this alleyway by chance. The place was full of yummy food stalls and on the river front there were many cool bars with local bands

I am told this is an ancient market of Beijing that is being preserved. The narrow cobbled street still has some of the old world charm but not entirely so and is chock-full of little souvenir shops. Ideal for a quiet stroll and a bit...More

This time went during daytime. Less fun. Still nice but much nicer at night. With the lights lit up it has a magical feel.

An historic area, with this street redeveloped for the tourists. It's a narrow street with lots of small narrow shops. Lots of souvenirs, art and crafts, scarves, clothing, a tea shop, a post office, food. It's not far from the lake, bars and restaurants, the...More

I am so sorry - I wish I could answer your question with an affirmative “yes”, but I can only say “maybe.” I saw antique shops along the street but I didn’t go in.
