Wonderful peaceful and special respite along a narrow Hutong. The restored house has paintings of this artist as well as a film and a good brochure and explanations in English so one can appreciate the life of this artist in an interesting time of China....More

Lonely Planet Beijing has a good walk round the hutongs centred on Nanluogo Xiang, but unaccountably misses out this restored courtyard house. It was given to Qi Baishi in 1955, not long before he died, but the Cultural Revolution and other political shenanigans meant it...More
