It would be difficult to miss it since you will more than likely enter the Forbidden City by this gate. You will come from Tienanmen Square which is not less impressive and not less a must see in Beijing. It will then lead you to the Gate of Great Harmony. These are all amazing places, and especially the Forbidden City... More

Across the street from Tienanmen square, the very-obvious bigger than life portrait of Mao gives you the sense of what occurred there.

Very nice place and very excited to get to see my Idol President Mao in front of the square. November is a very cold weather so recommend to bring winter clothing. Pls bring along tripod if want a nice pic at night. You can also pay for the pic if you want people help you to take photograph and print... More

This does not go directly into the forbidden city but, there is a good feel as you walk up to the entrance to the forbidden city. There is a security and the place can be crowded.

This square is worth seeing when you are in Beijing. There is a security check at the entrance, and I was asked to open my bag in Chinese! And the guard asked me to explain the contents of my plastic bottle (just an orange drink!) My Chinese is not so good, so I showed my passport to get into the... More

Lot of time for security check. Please consider it before planning. Chance is there to make lots of pics. Just beside it peoples parliment is there and also many other famous government buildings and MAOs memorial.

It is one of the must-go places of Beijing. How can you say you have been to Beijing if you never visit Great Wall, Imperial Palace and Times Square
