About
Once a summer retreat for emperors, this 290-acre park is still a retreat for the crowd-weary tourist, who can relax here or stroll around ancient pavilions, mansions, temples, bridges and huge lake, stopping occasionally at a shop or tea-house.

This place is so much more than just the actual palace. The lake and surrounding grounds are large and there is so much art and architecture to savor. We had an amazing lunch at the restaurant on the grounds and a wonderful boat trip across...More

Visited the Summer Palace as part of an escorted tour would like to have had more time but managed to see the long corridor. It is a popular attraction, so busy.

Interesting place. The long corridor was pretty nice. The lake boat ride was perfect even though it was foggy that day. Another tourist site but it was fun imagining the Dragon Lady and her entourage in such a lovely setting

I personally enjoyed the Summer Palace more than I did the Forbidden City. It is simply beautiful with a calming effect. A Beijing trip would not be complete without a visit to the Summer Palace.

It was very crowded when we visited this attraction but was less busy by the lake. It is an attractive spot with a lot of history and worth a visit.

Favorite place that we visited. The natural beauty was amazing. Loved how the views have been preserved so that you can enjoy seeing just how it looked so long ago. The history is preserved so well. Great people watching and friendly atmosphere.

As an opposite to the Forbidden City this is a wonderful open space. The lake is huge and you are able to take a boat trip or hire a boat if you think you can row across its vastness. The artwork in the long corridor...More

Went there in Autumn, October 25, 2018 and the weather was really great and the scenery was just lovely! We had a boat ride crossing the lake and it was awesome!

Out of all the places we have been to in Beijing my favorite was Summer Palace. You wouldn’t be able to see the beauty of it unless you go inside. I would also recommend to get an access to all of visiting places inside the... More
