Loved the main street as well as exploring all the laneways. Statues also ng the street are amazing - so lifelike. Best part was exploring all the “real life” hutongs on the perimeter. Please walk off the beaten path and explore.

A pleasant area with lots of fellow travellers and shopping. Great location, within walking distance from Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden Palace.

Along with Qianmenlu, checking out Dashilan is a nice way to finish a day focused on the Tiananmen area tourist sites. Qianmen has some of the nicer shops, while Dashilan is a great place to grab cheap eats. I also suspect Dashilan is one of...More

This is one of the side streets near the Qianmen Street. It's more catered to locals with interesting stores and snack shops. It's not far from Zhengyang Gate so it's worth your time to come here for a stroll.

Still a great street with traditional stores. Incredible silks, beautiful Chinese dresses. Traditional cutlery shop worth a visit. Go to the shoe shop where Mao got his sewn, very traditional sewn soles still available. Very handy to Qianmen subway.

Cute small street in an oldfashion style. Very hard to find it without English-Chinese map, almost no one on the streets around the Tiananmen square knew about it. If you have enough time or gap between visiting the main attractions you may include this street...More

I stayed at 365 Inn, a decent hostel on Dazhalan Street itself and this is a very good area to base yourself in to visit Beijing as it's so close to Qianmen metro and several attractions. The restaurant right next to the hostel was AMAZING...More

Although the tacky souvenir shops are creeping in here, there are still some good traditional shops still. I bought a pair of Chinese cloth shoes (with the traditional stitched soles) from Buyingzhai, who have been making shoes and hats since the mid-19th century. They have...More
