A Nice View of the Forbidden City’s Roofs
The park is said to be especially worth visiting in the morning when there’s tai chi and a charming local life. Later in the day, when we visited, the main attraction is to hike up the park’s small hill (takes no more than 10 minutes) and enjoy the view over to the Forbidden City. However, it's mostly the roofs that you can get a decent picture of.

    Walk with you
The park is not big at all; you can walk around it in about 15 minutes at a leisurely pace, but it’s worth a look into it for the cool view from above of the Forbidden City. There is a nominal fee of 2 yuan for entry. There's not much to see other than flowers and views.

    Magnificent views of Forbidden City
The views of Forbidden City from Wanchun Pavilion at this park were amazing; it was definitely worth the time to go to Jingshan Park. In fact I found it to be such a lovely park it would have been nice to spend more time there. We climbed up to two pavilions of the five and saw a nice bonsai collection. There is a gift shop that had very unique items I hadn't seen anywhere else though pricey.

For that picture perfect postcard photo
Jingshan park is a must go, if you wanted a good aerial photo of the Forbidden City. We entered by the less crowded East Gate, and walked up the slope. The incline was gentle, so it was very manageable, even for someone who seldom exercises.

    The picture perfect park
Wow! What a park this is. The history is engaging and the nature is the beautiful. The flowers and small plants stand out especially. The grand finale at Jingshan park is the Birds Eye view of Beijing. On one side you can see the forbidden city and on the other you can see Beijing itself. It’s definitely worth the hike!

A park overlooking the National Palace Museum from above.
This park is located across the road from the National Palace Museum and overlooks the entire National Palace Museum from its summit. Two yuan. When I went at 5:00 p.m. at the end of the National Palace Museum closing, the photo spot on the top of the mountain was ridiculously crowded, and I had trouble taking photos of the entire National Palace Museum. It was also a little cloudy, so the weather was important.

We had a nice walk in the park and had very nice views awhile walking up the hill
We visited Jingshan Park on a Sunday afternoon, and walk up towards the highest pavilion. Could be because it was a Sunday but it was extremely crowded as everyone was jostling to snap a photo of the Forbidden City across the road. What is interesting is that the hill is artificially created. The hill was constructed during Ming dynasty from the soil excavated when constructing the moats of the Imperial Palace and nearby canals. The soil was moved across and that was how the hill was formed. We had a nice walk in the park and had very nice views awhile walking up the hill. Do think about transport too, as it was difficult to hail a taxi or get a ride through Didi while we were there. Do time this visit if you intend to visit the Forbidden City.

It was a cold winter evening in December 2019. We had visited Forbidden City in the morning and went back to the hotel to drop off family members who were dead tired from walking. My hub, daughter and I took a cab to Jingshan Park. As it was almost 4 pm and almost sunset so we quickly bought the tickets and raced up the hill to the peak.

There were many steps and along the way. Thank goodness I had been exercising and climbing 16 storeys of stairs was part of my exercise routine. Was rewarded with a breathtaking view of the Forbidden City during sunset.

There were many people trying to take their best shots of sunset of the Forbidden City. Do take your time to enjoy the atmosphere and the sunset on the ancient palace. It’s just such an enchanting experience.

We walked down the steps slowly after that enjoying the cold air during winter. It was very cold but coming back to the equator here in Singapore, I really missed the weather then.

The park is located just across the road from north gate of forbidden city. Recommend to visit the park after visiting forbidden city. Entrance to the park cost 2rmb. Ticket to the park is sold at the entrance. If one have yikatong(metro card), can use yikatong to tap at entrance and no need to queue for ticket. At the top, one can have view of forbidden city and view of beijing including the drum tower further north. Is also a great place to watch sunset. Best is after forbidden city closed at 4.30pm, head to the park and catch a sunset view.

Opposite the exit of the Forbidden CIty, the climb to the top gives a great panorama of the city.
The park is a restful place to cope with the buzz of the city and the heat .
There are some beautiful temples to see in the park itself
Entrance fee a few RMB - worth the fee.

The park is just behind the Forbidden City.
It is a very typical Chinese style park, which means it is well cared for and laid out very well. The temples are typical in the Chinese style, as you will see in hundreds of places, but still nice. The view of the Forbidden City and the rest of Beijing is why you come to the park and make the climb, it is the highest ground in BJ. It is not a huge park and will take you only a short period of time to walk around, but you can easily spend much longer wandering and exploring. Admission was 2RMB, needed to show our passports to get tickets. Likely nice place to view sunrise and sunsets. Certainly worth the visit.

This park was built on the debris excavated when the moat surrounding the Forbidden City was dug many years ago. Since that time it has become overgrown with mature trees and there are numerous paths you can stroll on. At the very top of the highest hill there is a small building from which you can get a great view of the Forbidden City to the South and Olympic Park to the North. It seems to be a favorite for photographers. Definitely a beautiful place to relax and get a 360 degree view of Beijing.

After we exited from the Forbidden Palace, we crossed the road and directly in front of the exit is Jingshan Park. Climbed to the top and we were rewarded with a complete view of the Forbidden Palace in front of us. However, you may need to jostle for space to the take the 'perfect' photo as there were many tourists. Worth the climb however tired we may be after visiting the Forbidden Palace.

If you go to the palace museum, then you enter one way and exit the other. I know you are tired because of the walking, but when are you going to be in China again. Walk across the street and go here and climb to the top. You get a view of the whole forbidden city, which is spectacular! Do not overlook this!

There is much to see at Jingshan Park. On this visit we walked the zigzagging paths, enjoyed the flowers in the gardens, walked to the hilltop for the awesome views of the Forbidden City, and visited a temple.

Nice park. We were taken there by a private guide after visiting FC and at the end of the tour we were invited by her to be educated about teas of China in the tea house in the premises of the park. After a ten minute exhibition and tasting of mediocre tea we were forced to buy expensive unlabelled tins of tea : 300 grams of different teas 185 usd after bargaining. Always feels bad to be taken for a ride.. we could have bought the same teas in other places for 50 usd.
