There are so many histories behind this hall. On August 25th, 1912, the Chinese Nationalist Pary(KMT) was founded at the guild hall at a convention of the Revolutionary Alliance, led by famous Sun Yat-sen, and five smaller pro-revolution parties...more

My partner and I have just got back to our hotel after seeing an hour's worth of top quality Chinese opera. I ordered the tickets three months ago online from the UK and picked them up outside the theatre tonight without issue. I even received...More

We just got back from a great evening at Huguang Guild Hall. We found a great deal on tickets online, reserved them in the morning, and payed when we got there. The building where the opera is performed is very old, and looks like something...More

It's pretty much cold on the outside, temp is warm in the inside. Classical theater layout with lots of history in it. There's a small museum beside the hall and a restaurant too. My king of place.

Much better than I expected; free snacks on arrival, two thirty minute shows that are followable despite not understanding any of the speech.

Never been an opera buff but as it was on our agenda and was already pre booked so we gave it a go. The stage was huge and only a handful of actors / dancers / singers involved but the highly pitched singing was not...More

It was a real sleeper to discover how wonderful Chinese Opera really is and this is the best of the best. Wonderful stories depicted in such a dramatic fashion.

Wasn't here for very long. Enjoyed what we saw. Wouldn't want to be here for more than around an hour.

We were very interested to experience traditional Peking opera and are glad we had the opportunity to. The Huguang Guild Hall has a 200-year history and is worth visiting. It is interesting to see that dancing and acting is given as much emphasis as singing,...More

Seriously thought this would be bad, but I was pleasantly surprised. It was really interesting, and they did it so that non-English speakers can understand what's going on. The theater itself was interesting also. If you want to get into the local culture, this is...More

Something like Peking Opera is bound to get mixed reviews which has probably nothing to do with the actual quality of the venue as a peking opera stage. Huguang Guild Hall is one of the most authentic ones in Beijing, and can be challenging for...More

When we went last night, people ranged from jeans and T-shirt to smart casual. No one was really dressed up. It is a very casual-feeling place.
