One of the more ornate gates amongst of the multitude of Imperial Palace gates, so slightly less boring than the rest.

Ok it's a gate but what a gate - it is HUGE - Seeing pictures of are nothing compared to seeing it in person

These gates are the entrance to The Forbidden city. Its through these that one walks to finally enter the historical sight although as first time visitors it all just seems like The Forbidden city, instead of understanding that these are the actual entrance. Beautiful and...More

A spectacular structure, the southern and largest gate of the forbidden city, yet the 3rd gate that you will have come through, has a protruding section on either side of the 5 arched gates. The ticket office and security checkpoints are here.

This is part of the Forbidden City complex. It is a wondrous piece of architecture and an absolute must see.

This is the south gate of the forbidden city and it is only an exit gate. The last impressive building of the city leaves you with a feeling of content. If you can go directly to the Jingshan park opposite the exit and walk up....More

You get great views over the square from here, and being up and close to the roof gives great views of the paint and carving work. This is mainly used as an exhibition space with foreign art shown off, sometimes with a small local reference.
