The food we were able to cook was amazing, and it was only made better by the host Carl and the main chef, who helped us understand the intracies of Chinese cuisine.

I would HEAVILY recommend this to anyone interested in cooking or even someone looking for a new experience.

A very welcoming and helpful host, Carl, who met us, gave us a little history of the Hutong area and then brought us to an intimate Kitchen to go through the dishes we were to cook. Especially pleased they accomodated my wife who is gluten intolerent. Each dish had an informative introduction discussing its history and location and then we all had a go at preparing, chopping and cooking. All in all a great day in a stunning area of Beijing...

My boyfriend and I have wanted to learn how to cook some classic Chinese dishes for a while. We first contacted Carlyle via email and he responded quickly with all the information we needed. We were able to add him on wechat to make the communication easier. We loved the fact Carlyle sent us a list of dishes (with pictures) and we were able to select which dishes we learned to make. We booked ourselves into this class over the dragonboat weekend expecting to be part of a larger group but we had the kitchen and the chef all to ourselves. When we first arrived, Carlyle (business owner) met us from our didi and took us to a Chinese market. He explained the difference between lots of different ingredients and provided information about which ingredients we should select in the future. Carlyle speaks perfect native-level English and knows lots of interesting facts about the food we were making. When we arrived at the kitchen, which was located in one of the hutongs, we were introduced to our chef, who worked in one of the big hotel kitchens. They were both very patient and kind as they showed us how to make dumplings, how to slice thing in different ways and how to stir-fry the different dishes. The clear step-by-step instructions to all the recipes made us feel confident about recreating the dishes at home and any questions we had were fully answered and clarified. The food was absolutely delicious and we fully enjoyed the experience. We highly recommend this course for anyone wanting to learn Chinese cooking.

We loved this cooking experience from start to finish. First, shopping in a local market for ingredients and learning about all of the produce and spices was both fun and interesting. Next, we had a cooking class in a local home with Carlyle and a professional Chinese chef. We learned the techniques necessary for each step of each dish we prepared, then put them to use by making various dishes ourselves under the watchful eyes of Carlyle and the chef. Then, best of all, was eating all the delicious food we had made. A thoroughly enjoyable experience, not to be missed.

My son and I did this class together and both really enjoyed it. Pretty sure his knife skills have improved now, and hope he uses the recipes for the remainder of his stay in China.

The class was expertly run by the team, who were very knowledgable and friendly. The venue is the in the Hutong district, giving some very interesting insights into traditional life in the city.

everything was perfect. upon receiving confirmation for the date and time of our class, the guide, Carlyle, provided me with very detailed instructions on how to get to the cooking class using both taxi or the subway system. After we arrived, he gave our group a tour of a local market and discussed the history and importance of a variety of different Chinese foods. Once the Market tour was completed, we made our way to his class room in the local Hutong. During the class we made a total of 11 different Chinese dishes with the help of a professional chef along side Carlyle. we had a vegetarian in our group and the extremely accommodating, right down to every single ingredient, ensuring everything was correct. Our group had a blast and it was by far the best meal we had during our week long trip. If you have the time, I would highly recommend Beijinger Kitchen to anyone making the trip.

Our group had an amazing experience!! We really appreciated Carlyle's cultural knowledge and ability to create a wonderful list of dishes and I had the most vegetarian dishes I've yet to experience in Beijing. I really enjoyed learning how to make all the dishes.
