Its rather uninspiring monument. Go there if you are interested in seeing a piece of history for Chongqing. It is quite convenient and you will most likely see it on the way to something else

Jiefang Square is not so old that it rates huge historical significance but is very relevant to China's modern history. The People's Monument is a testament to World II victories. Large area, many people going in all directions, lots of food and beverage choices and...More

First, it is located at the wrong place. It is a monument to commemorate a war victory, located in the middle of money making stores. Secondly, it is not beautiful, has no special features, really nothing that makes it different from a random building wall....More

Visited last May. We saw this and had to ask what it was. Literally in the middle of a shopping district. It is a WWII memorial to celebrate victory over Japan. A bit more could be made of its significance as something of note when...More

A monument dedicated to the revolution surrounded by jumbotrons and mega stores. Curiosa specially for people visiting Asia for The first time

What looks like an ordinary monument actually has a stronger meaning behind its existence. No doubt the neighbouring mega shopping malls and fashion brands like H&M, Gucci, Louis Vuitton etc seem to diminish its existence, but if you're there for the shopping experience, then perhaps...More

It's difficult to review this when it's simply a monument in the middle of a huge pedestrian shopping mall, surrounded on all sides by high class shops. Unfortunately there is little to do but look at it, because you can't even go up inside it....More

Not really much other than a monument surrounded by posh designer shops. Nicer at night when everything is lit up. Try and go with someone that knows some of the history and can actually tell you about it.

If you are in Chongqing you have to go... pretty standard luxury shopping area.. but within minutes you can walk to more interesting neighborhoods going towards the river.

It is a historically significant site. But I was disappointed to find a commericalised monument. The clock in the clock tower is a overseas brand. Nevertheless it is worth the visit not for the monument but the shopping around it.
