Stanley is very different to other parts of Hong Kong, or completely different from what you think about Hong Kong. Stanley, located at the southern of Hong Kong island, is much more relaxed with beaches, hills and coves. You will find the western atmosphere in this small Chinese town.

We too one of the sight seeing buses over to Stanley and it was such a lovely town. I thoroughly enjoyed the beach, the quiet and the market!

We visited Stanley via the Hop On Hop Off Big Bus and were extremely surprised at what we found here. The shops are accessed via a series of escalators and there is quite a variety, boutiques, cafes, restaurants and a great play are for children plus a pier and promenade. Well worth a visit - we had a great breakfast... More

Very nice beach with a layback and relaxing atmosphere. Only 30 min by bus from Central and a total different feeling from the buzzy city. I love the view from the small park uphill and the restaurants looking over the sea.

It's quite convenient to take the green bus from Causeway Bay to Stanley. And it took about just half an hour to stay away from the hustle and bustle of city life. The sea is clear, the water is clean, and the view is beautiful. Walking along the road and enjoying the breeze are relaxing. I like the serene atmosphere... More

From the perspective of a day visitor, Stanley is not much but a short promenade at the sea and a small market (plus the mall and a little temple.) But the drive to Stanley is beautiful, so choose a scenic route. We used bus 63 from North Point, very nice route over the mountains.

We've been to the Stanley Market about a half-dozen times, starting back in the late 1970's. It's changed so much -- not so exciting now, the prices are much higher, and the merchants won't deal like they used to. Not worth the drive to Stanley if you are only interested in this out-dated market. Instead, try the Ladies Market in... More

Stanley is a nice fishing village, good to spend an afternoon in. There is a really good market (although it's not as cheap as say Kowloon market). There are some good places to eat on the waterfront, although they are very pricey.
