Interesting but out of the way

It's interesting but a little out of the main tourist areas. Lots of old and fascinating medical exhibits. The museum building and the surrounding area is rather historic.

if you choose to walk to the museum, you may very well have to tackle a number of flights of steep stairs! The museum itself is a fine example of a colonial structure. The ground floor devotes a lot of room to an artist's works which fuse medicine with art. Interesting, if you like that sort of thing. Upstairs had... More

Our whole family enjoyed this museum (before its temporary closure from mid Sept till early 2017 for renovation). Keep in mind that this might be a long way to come to this western part of Hong Kong Island for this small museum (formerly Old Pathological Institute) and therefore you may wish to plan a half or full day to complete... As a medical student, this museum seemed to be a must-see during a visit back to Hong Kong. The depth of knowledge is likely to be most interesting for secondary school students - giving a good amount of depth into infection control, the human body. With extra knowledge on the foundation of the museum itself, it's historical uses, and many... More

It is a tiny but interesting museum, showing you the medical history of the old Hong Kong. There are less than 30 medical museums in the whole wide world and it is one of them. The building itself is also very nice

This place is a little hard to find but is a lovely building set within a small apothecary garden which is itself worth a visit. The entrance fee is relatively expensive for HK. There is a short introductory film (which is not brilliant) and then there is not a clear route around the museum. There is a first floor to... More

As a physician and medical technologist with specific experience in microbiology, this was a great stop for me. The museum reviews the bubonic plague outbreak, as well as the SARS outbreak. The surrounding garden is lovely.

It was a nice walk to get to, through the steep side streets and walkways. The museum building is itself beautiful and tucked away from the bustling streets nearby. The exhibits were great and factual but to me, were laid out in a very random order, as if the museum was under renovation. It was a great addition to my... More

It was quite a little adventure getting to this museum, as it's tucked out of the way. When we eventually got in, we found a small but very interesting museum, detailing the medical history of Hong Kong, from the plague to SARS. There are only a handful of rooms, but they contain lots of real items that were great to... More

This grand old house turned museum is a treasure trove of old photographs and items from the bygone days of Hong Kong. Its an interesting walk to get there but its worth the effort. It has 2 floors and a basement full of old medical equipment, photographic history of the early days when Hong Kong experienced the plague, and an... More
