I would say Lan Tau island is still worth a visit, obviously the main attraction is the buddah and the great views from the cable car ride. I first went in 2006 and unfortunately it has got a lot more popular, so there is an abundance of tourists and there is a lot of traffic walking around, which also makes... More

In order to see Big Buddha, you have to come to Lantau Island. We took MTR all the way and enjoyed the scenery.

This island is very beautiful and deserving to be visited. After a few days in Central, I needed to get away from the big, almost New York feel, metropolis area of the city of Hong Kong. We came here changing a few trains on the metro and then the car cabin with its wonderful views! I highly recommend this. This... More

Hiking can take you to some incredible peaks and into some ancient historical site not to mention a wide array of local villages and monasteries. There... More

MTR to cable with clear info. Lots waiting to get on the cable- Take water- quite warm to wait. Well worth waiting to take in the views from a great height. AFTER returning look at u tube to see the workers building the amazing system. What an experience and views to remember- we did have a snack/ice cream at the... More

Unfortunately the cable car was out of use for the next 5 months, you'll take the bus if you want to go see the big buddha or Tai O for example. Still a nice trip if you have seen the Peak and so on.

We booked 3 days for our outbound journey and inbound journey so that we might cover everything there without having to visit on another trip. So far our the time there for our outbound journey was great. Relaxed comfortable and enjoyable. We stayed at the novotel city gate hotel and it was lovely. Views over the harbour and airport (when... More
