Top ways to experience Wan Chai
The area
Neighbourhood: Wan Chai / Causeway Bay
Wan Chai and Causeway Bay are the retail centres of Hong Kong Island. Filled with shops, malls and restaurants, both areas are bustling with people – tourists and locals alike. Causeway Bay has one of the highest rents on the planet, and is a bit more polished and modern than its Wan Chai counterpart. Beneath the surface there is more than meets the eye – find boutique stores in the above ground floors of buildings and wander into side streets to find interesting restaurants and shops tucked away from the main roads. Wan Chai especially has experienced a modern revival in recent times, with an influx of trendy restaurants and bars around the Star Street area. In addition, both areas contain many of Hong Kong’s iconic tourist attractions worthy of your visit.

Dinner at Iron Rice Bowl tonight, located on the LG2 floor of Wan Chai Royal Hotel, 33 Hennessy Road, Wan Chai. The store environment is noble and elegant, with a nostalgic Southeast Asian style. The restaurant specializes in high-end Malaysian and Chinese dishes. Soon after we sat down, the waiter brought us shrimp crackers and chrysanthemum tea ($32 per person). In addition, we ordered snail head fish maw stewed chicken soup $168, lemongrass smoked crispy pigeon $88, charcoal Grilled Iberico Pork Ribs $164, Abalone and Chicken Risotto $168, Shrimp, Ginger and Scallion Noodles $188, Malay Crispy Pancake Cake $68.

📌Shrimp crackers ~ Eat the shrimp crackers with spicy sauce, especially crispy and delicious.

📌Snail head fish maw stewed chicken soup ~ The taste is sweet, the stew soup is full of ingredients, nourishing and nourishing.

📌Lemongrass smoked crispy pigeon ~ There is a nice smoky flavor in the mouth, the crispy pigeon has a shiny outer skin, a crispy and fragrant texture, and tender and delicious meat.

📌Charcoal Grilled Iberico Pork Ribs ~ The meat is rich in aroma, rich and juicy, and you can taste the unique taste of charcoal grilling. Paired with the spicy yellow pepper sauce, the taste is even more enhanced. There are six glasses of lemon special drink, which is very sour and relieves greasiness.

📌Abalone and chicken risotto ~ A delicious and multi-ingredient risotto. The gravy penetrates into the rice, making it delicious.

📌Big head shrimp, ginger and scallion noodles ~ The shrimp meat is fresh and large, the ginger and scallion noodles are fragrant and the noodles are refreshing.

📌Malay crispy pancake ~ crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, filled with corn and peanuts, fragrant and delicious.

Overall, the restaurant has reasonable prices, high-quality dishes, and attentive service.

🏷️Warm reminder~ The entire dining experience is a personal opinion shared and is for reference only😊.

I actually have lived in Wan Chai for 8 years. This vibrant neighbourhood is very convenient for all modes of public transport, filled with eateries from the local street hawker, and cha cha tang, to upmarket fine dining. There is also cuisine from all parts of the world. Everything to suit your pocket.

The nightlife can be seedy with bars and people of questionable repute but it is safe, and also wonderful live music especially at the Wanch.

If you are a morning person and need your caffeine, there are shops and outlets like M&S, Pacific Coffee, Starbucks and Bakehouse.

𓄹This is our first dine in for lunch after one and half month. Such as so long time for this happened .

𓄹Poached eggs with chickpea hummus and crunchy vegetable which is amazing on tasting. Poached eggs match with creamy chickpea hummus.

𓄹Handmade seafood capellini must try dishes. I love that squid mix with crispy garlic.

𓄹Beef cheeks ravioli with Thai beef bouillon were surprisedly match which is yummy and tasty.

𓄹All around decor in this restaurant contains vintage and elegant elements .

There are many tenement buildings in Hong Kong, but not many of them can be preserved, especially on Hong Kong Island. After joining the guided tour this time, I learned more about the lives of the poor and subdivided houses in Hong Kong in the early days: why were they painted blue? The exterior wall? What was the previous love letter like? Why can it be preserved? Can I apply to live in the Blue House now?

Sometimes, in addition to going abroad during vacation, sometimes it is also interesting to learn about local history.

A place where the locals go to do their shopping and dining, almost a world away from the glitzy glamour of the One Pacific Place where I was staying during my visit to Hong Kong.

One can feel the energy of the place. People on the move, having their dinners, shopping groceries, or just simply walking home.

I love Wan Chai. Although I live Mid-Levels I’d love to move to Wan Chai as I think it has it all, the markets, great people and a vibrant new atmosphere coupled with the old Style of Hong Kong. New and old buildings alike. The Blue House, wan chai market, Triangle Street for great fruit and vegetables. Cheap electrical shops. Head to Wan Chai pier to hop over to Tsim Sha Tsui for a couple of dollars (HKD). The Central Plaza Building is great for a fantastic view of HK. Get the lift to the 46th Floor for a stunning 360 view.

Wan Chai is another shopping area like Causeway Bay but more low key. Many small side streets with small shops and kiosks. It is accessible by MTR with aptly named station. Surprisingly, I was able to find a cable for a charger that I could not find anywhere including Bangkok, where we live. So it may surprise you also. Walk thru Lee Tung Avenue, a pedestrian mall with cute shops, a Pizza Express and Dan Ryan's Chicago Grill. Most of this area is wheelchair accessible.

Wan Chai is a metropolitan area situated at the western part of the Wan Chai District on the northern shore of Hong Kong Island, in Hong Kong. Its other boundaries are Canal Road to the east, Arsenal Street to the west and Bowen Road to the south. The area north of Gloucester Road is often referred to as Wan Chai North.

I will admit I was mainly in one area of Wan Chai, but all the bars and brothels, or the suggestion of being brothels, made me want to be anywhere but wan Chair. Fortunately the MTR is nearby to do so.
