Located in the new territories, this is the highest peak in Hong Kong and offers great views over Hong Kong. On a clear day, it is possible to see mainland China from here. It is a difficult hike from Kowloon. However, the lookout point is also on the itinerary of the New Territories tour and this is the easier way... More

I did the full day trek, but possible to spend 1/2 day on the mountain too. NB: my full day option slightly tricky to navigate after leaving the peak Half day option: MTR to Tsuen Wan West exit D, turn left just around the corner to the bus station and look for bus #51 stand. This bus departs hourly on... More

Hiking up to the top of Tai Mo Shan will offer plenty of greenery and great views from the top. It is well worth the walk, there is a road all the way up so if you want an easier route up the mountain, then you could use this but there are some much nicer tracks to hike up. It's... More

Hiking on the slopes of or up to the top of Tai Mo Shan will offer plenty of greenery and great views from the top. We hiked from Shing Mun reservoir around the slope of Tai Mo Shan on a rainy December afternoon, and we did not meet any other hiker for almost two hours. The forest is reminiscent of... More

I went on a guided walk and rather than hiking to the summit the guide took me in a circular route passing some amazing waterfalls, streams and pools. Well worth a visit. Great to see a different side to HK.

Hiking from Tsuen Wan to Sheung Tsuen. You may like the home-made dim sum or noodles with luncheon meat and egg on your way. So refreshing looking from the one of the highest points in Hong Kong in the autumn or early winter.

The walk on the Wilson Trail is a 3.5/5 difficulty and about 2.5 hours up and down steep stepped hills, with wide views across forested slopes and glimpses of the sea and harbours through breaks in the fog and mist. We walked on a cold blustery day with winds sweeping down across China from Siberia. We wanted to see the... More

Usually, people just tell you how spectacular the highest mountain view you perch on top, and missing another great part of winding mountain drive through tall trees, speedy turn, deep slope and zig zag shift of road. The sharp difference in temperature when you are on mountain top versus down on urban area that, you feel fresh and motivated.

Appeal: people who want to get out of the city, trail bikers, campers. It's a bit of a haul out of the city, get the west rail line to Tsuen Wan West, exit gate A1 to the bus station and walk along, get the 51 on the left rank to the country park. Fare is $8.90, bus leaves once an... More
