Great day at the races. Take the train out, stops directly across from race track. Use your passport and pay the extra few dollars to get into the members area. Amazing facilities and a real eye opener in how big racing is in Hong Kong. Envy of the world. Sha tin is more about the racing, where happy valley is... More

Received a complimentary pass due to being a member of a Race Club in Australia. A race every 25 minutes. Large screens everywhere you look A bit surprised that there are apparently no dress regulations in the Members area (track pants and joggers!) but handy if you don't want to pack a suit when travelling overseas . Would have also... More

Everyone way very helpful, took us some time to learn. Foreigners get to sit in a upgraded grandstand, beer is affordable, we had outdoor seats with a table, and the automated betting machines are simple. My wife and I spent the whole day here, it was a fantastic time! Highly recommended. Good food too!

Sha Tin is where Hong Kong's major racing takes place. It doesn't have the party atmosphere that Happy Valley has, but the serious side of horse racing. Pick a meeting when they host an international group 1 race.

After considering the options available to enjoy a day at the races we opted on take the Grayline Tour which included admission to the Member's Enclosure, delicious buffet lunch, unlimited wine, beer & soft drinks, betting voucher & guided tour of mounting yard & winners post. We had a fabulous day out & even picked some winners. Ross our tour... More

Situated in the New Territories, with a dedicated metro line directly to the course on race days, it is a massive course. Only £1 to get in. Give yourself time to explore the whole complex. Stick to the dress code as advised, but its not too strict! There are helpful assistants to ask about the betting if you are inclined.... More

Visited Sha Tin Racecourse for the opening day on 3 September. This was our second visit here as we are racing buffs but it would be a memorable experience for anyone looking for something different while in Hong Kong. When we were there about 4 years ago we dined as guests in the Members' Enclosure and this was absolutely superb.... More

This place looking like copying between Ascot and Cheltenham, a bit of Epsom thrown in... but although the race value are higher than Taunton races, the fun is less, to me that is, we ate in the open top restaurant which is quite close to the finish line ( about a quarter of a furlong I guess), yes, the food... Used the mtr to arrive at the track 90 minutes before the first race. This proved to be advantageous as it was quiet and gave us time to talk to the customer service agent (at various locations on site) so as to understand how to use the betting slip. We bought the tourist badge, honestly, it proved to be a... More
