The area
Neighbourhood: Wan Chai / Causeway Bay
Wan Chai and Causeway Bay are the retail centres of Hong Kong Island. Filled with shops, malls and restaurants, both areas are bustling with people – tourists and locals alike. Causeway Bay has one of the highest rents on the planet, and is a bit more polished and modern than its Wan Chai counterpart. Beneath the surface there is more than meets the eye – find boutique stores in the above ground floors of buildings and wander into side streets to find interesting restaurants and shops tucked away from the main roads. Wan Chai especially has experienced a modern revival in recent times, with an influx of trendy restaurants and bars around the Star Street area. In addition, both areas contain many of Hong Kong’s iconic tourist attractions worthy of your visit.

This was our first attempt at an escape room and it was a fun experience. It was harder than I initially thought it would be. The room we used had minor defects but was in good condition. The negative is that they literally give you the solution to how to solve a particular task when you ask for 'clues'. Would recommend

2 locations with total of 14 escape rooms! Causeway Bay and Mong Kok. All rooms are in English and Chinese with great staff to provide you with tips and services to make you 45 minute escape journey unforgettable. Best to book online and check their website to find the room you like and the address of their new shops.

The idea is simple - you get blindfolded and led into a room. Once u take off your blindfold you realise you are locked in a themed room and have to figure out clues around the room to find the next clue, to the next clue etc etc until you eventually find the key that opens the door to the room. You have approximately 45mins to do this, and are allowed two opportunities to call for Hints.
We did this three times when we were there! One evening, we did two back to back including an awesome one where we opened up our blindfolds and found ourselves locked in a jail cell! haha There are different levels of difficultity and to be honest, you really gotta think outside the box. Out of three rooms we tried, we only escaped from one haha But it was fun nonetheless trying to get out and figure out the clues.
Tips: I'd actually recommend LostHK instead of FreeingHK coz when we went to FreeingHK, they only had a limited number of rooms that was in English. Whereas LostHK had heaps of rooms in English. I'd also recommend you NOT go in a super large group, I say 4 or 5 max is ample. If its more than that, it becomes a case of 'too many chefs in the kitchen' if you know what I mean!
Fun fun experience and I'd definitely recommend it, as well as go again next time Im in HK!!

The game had room had few malfunctions. One of the clue box were already opened before we could even solved the prior. The room was missing the flashlights which consumed our time. Had we not asked for the clue we wouldn't get the flashlight from the staff. The room wasn't foreigner friendly thus if the guest is clueless about Chinese reading one wouldn't figure out the clue. The staff took time to respond to answer clues as some of the staff do not speak English and had to wait for the one who could speak. This is not the first time we played Lost in HK, we played numerous times in MK, old CWB and Central branch, so it's quite disappointing to experience this especially after the renovations.

This place is really lame. We've been to escape rooms in our home town and around the world as we really enjoy them. This is the worst we've been to. The first impression walking in is up a flight of filthy stairs. Once you get to the front desk, aside from asking if you have a reservation (we did) is they ask for the cash. Not a problem. We chose the Aokigahara room. We finished it early with one request for help along the way. The puzzles were lame and really had nothing to do with the theme. Although the room was decorated (cheaply), none of the puzzles had to do with the theme or story line so you were there just to solve a few puzzles. All were pretty similar with little variety so once you figured out how to solve them, the rest were easy. At the end we were astonished that we finished it as it was so anti-climatic. There was no sense of ending or a accomplishment. Although I felt the pricing was reasonable, I felt cheated for the money we spent. I hope Hong Kong has better places to go to. I'd recommend avoiding this place if you like escape rooms and aren't a first-timer. One last comment is their website is frustrating to navigate. Links do not work properly. The only positive comment I have is that we had to push back our time slot an hour because we were running late and the staff was very accommodating. We were very appreciative.

My next escape room adventure was with Lost HK. Walking into the space, I was very excited. Their lobby looks amazing. Once we checked in, we had to pay for our booking (they only take cash, which was odd). After walking up 3 floors from the lobby, we entered our room.
It was pretty crowded for the 5 people we had (the room could fit 8). Our game master briefly explained the rules and told us how to solve the first puzzle. I’ve had this happen at another Escape Room I played; I did not enjoy it then and I certainly didn’t enjoy it at this room either. We could ask for help on the puzzles through an intercom in the room. The volume was VERY low, and with all the other background noise, it was very hard to hear. Most of the help we got was “did you do this yet? Ok, and then did you do this?” This ‘technique’ not only wastes my time (we only had 45 minutes for the game), but it makes it seem like my game master isn’t watching our game, which shouldn’t be the case. I shouldn’t have to waste time telling you something I already did.
The puzzles were alright, but the decor was sad. The wallpaper was falling off the wall and some of the items seemed broken. One of the puzzles required an audio recording, and we had to wait for the entire message to play. This would have been fine if the messages didn’t play in 2 different languages. Again, unnecessarily wasting our time. The final puzzle was pretty anticlimactic.
Once we escaped, there was no one to greet us, and we had to crawl back to the first room to get our stuff. I looked up at the timer to see how much time we had left and the timer hadn’t stopped. :(
After we walked down to the lobby we took some pictures and talked to some of the staff. The girl at the reception was very nice and very friendly.
I would come back to try another one of their rooms (the room we played was actually a second choice since my first choice was under construction), but hopefully they fix the quality of the rooms before I come back.

Well, we found the 3/5 difficulty-rated ‘Aokigahara’ game very difficult and only had about 4 minutes before we would have been locked in. Really fun though!

Our extended family including four children really enjoyed this escape room. Although we had tons of trouble trying to break out of the room - the staff were helpful with clues and made us feel like we did it on our own in the end. The kids were eager to try it again. My only complaint is that the price is a bit high for 45 minutes.

It was my 10th birthday party and I went there with six of my friends. It was a big sunny day, so I and my friends went to the two rooms from Lost we booked before. They give us forty-five minutes each room. We played one of the easiest room and we had some difficulty escaping the room. The staff was kind and friendly. They even teach us how should we have escaped when the time was already up. There is many different puzzles you have to solve before you move on to the next room. There is many different rooms in a big room you book. The first time I came here, we went to Castiglione, it was about you trying to find 12 zodiac heads in the castle on time. The second time I went there, I went to the Tangata Manu. You need to steal an egg and escape with in 45 minutes. If you did not successfully escape, you might turn into the next Moai. We also played Exodus, where there is 3 small rooms. Exodus was pretty hard to solve. We asked the staffs to give us clues to help us. They would not just come in to the room and help us unless we wanted them to do so. I think this was my best birthday party ever!!

They dont even follow the rules of a roomscape.
Dont present what a roomacape is
Dont explain no story
The room has nothing to do with the story.
We went directly in with the room master and he already explain how to solve the first problem.
We didnt even want to finish
